XJ coin system
@ A3tius : and how do you define the average group, and the noob group?
OT: great idea. 300 sounds great :P
A3tius you have a point, and a system like that would be great, but how do we know in which category everybody is? The pro's is easy to figure out I guess but what about the "noobs"?
There are very skilled guys out there who just don't record for XJ. There is no way we could know exactly who those guys are :/.
Glad that you ppl liked the 1st part of my proposal. Here's the 2nd part which mainly concerns the division of the various categories :
Elite Group : All current WR holders of XJ. This is perhaps the easiest to classify :P
Average Group : This is perhaps the toughest group to define but here are a few suggestions as to who should qualify for this group :
1. Retired / Past Record Holders [This system may bring them back to recording too :)]
2. All WR holders from all national kz websites like kzfr, kz-arg, etc and also clan sites like phoogi, insilo, etc and ofc cosy-climbing.
3. All past and present cup winners of the above mentioned websites.
Amateur Group : Those who do not qualify for the above 2 groups would be eligible for this group. Probably there would be ppl from this group who are equivalent to those of the Average group but did / does not have the motivation / time to record. This system may instigate them to take the game more seriously.
I think all the 3 groups can be pretty much distinguished from each other following the aforementioned guidelines. Once the system is put to actual practice, players may be shifted to higher groups according to their performance. Say for example, take my example. I start in the amateur group and somehow manage to get a VIP status for a month. The next month onwards I wont be able to compete from the Amateur group, instead I'd be competing from the Average Group. This way, VIP status wont be easy and at the same time there would be a constant driving force to push the players to practice and get better :)
i think it's enough to have two groups
Wolrd recorders group and Amateurs, you can easily recognize each one of world recorders...
A3T!U$` that sounds good in theory, but unfortunately it's very unpractical. We would need a couple of admins ready 24/7 for each time someone wants to join the server and play pub, to categorize them in the correct group...which probably would need some "investigation" for each player...or some kind of page on the website where people register themselfes to each group, after which a admin needs to go through each player and somehow check if the information they typed in is correct and if they truly should be in the group they registered to.
Seeing as the XJ servers are pretty popular and have players from all over the world and people who don't even know that this website exists, this could be very complicated and time consuming. If this was more like a tournament your system would work better, but because it's more like people spontaneously joining a server and playing for a couple of mins, its hard to administrate :/.
Therefore, maybe a middle ground is the best solution. And to me 300 points/coins sounds like a average number that most people would be able to reach within a resonable amount of time.
Maybe based on time? I guess good jumpers earn points really fast and bad people don't. So if you see one guy got 10 points in the last hour, you should maybe start to give him less points? That could be done automatically. But tbh, that makes things too complicated. Just take 300 like omilo said, good jumpers deserve to get points faster.
omilo, to set the wolrd recorders group I think a txt file or something can be made with the world record holders here at XJ and make a plugin that separates the nicknames or the steamIDs from the rest of the players.
Maybe just make a plugin with which people would choose their own category when they enter the server, and save the information they gave (save their steamID for example). Of course there would be some cheaters (ret*rds mostly), but I think most of the people would be honest with the category they choose. It seems to be the easiest solution to divide players in different groups.
And... if it appears that most of the people are honest, you could just switch to a more appropriated group/punish(reset their coins for example) the fakers manually. The fakers would be easy to see, I guess...
Everyone one of you has got one valid point or the other, and I do agree that although the suggestions I have given is almost flawless, their practical application is tough no doubt but...
I am not at all into plugin making and so dont know whether or not the creation of the following plugins are possible. Plz lemme know whether they are possible or not. If possible, the aforementioned points can easily be solved. If not possible, lemme know which ones and I'd try to give alternate solutions
First of all, before this system is put to practice, a formal announcement should be made describing all the rules so that everyone has a fair and complete knowledge of how the system works. This is to avoid any confusions amongst players and would also to serve the purpose of preventing complications and save the hard work of admins a lot in the later stages.
Secondly, since if there are 3 servers, dedicate one 2 for pub. One for the elite and the average players and one for the amateurs. Alternately, you can have predefined timings for each category. One server could be kept free to run in the usual way, although it should have the option to count the coins.
Lastly, going by koukouz's suggestion, a plugin should be created and included in every server that should 1st ask the players to register for their respective groups and continue.
Also, even if there are thousands of players across the world competing for VIP status, not all would make it to the required target. Its probably a handful of them who would make it. We just have to verify them. No wasting time over verifying each and every guy who joins the server and competes. It wont be that tough cuz once we have the names and the countries from where they are we just have to chk their national kz website and prominent websites like cosy climbing to verify their category eligibility. If anyone provides false info, he'd be banned for the month from the servers and his coins reset. A plugin like that wont be that tough to create I guess. And even the admins wont have to work hard on it. The mapchanging can be done by player voting in the server itself, so that constant monitoring isn't required.
As you might have noticed, I keep on emphasizing that amateurs should be encouraged more and more to participate. Amateurs of today would progress and be the pr0s of tomorrow. And moreover even XJ would have the satisfaction that at least it helped to create at least one good kreedzer a month. I know many of you would be opposing this considering it as a waste of time but still I think its worth the shot. If XJ wants, I'd volunteer to chk the amateur section all by myself. [Ya..am used to chking at least 25-30 n00b demos a day just for the sake of promoting kz back in our country :P]
Hope I have been able to eliminate the problems that you have mentioned. If there's still more, we can always think and come up with solutions :)
koukouz' suggestion sounds great. ofc it might be some extra work for the server-admins to get rid of fakers, but i think its the easiest and most fair way to introduce a "coin-system" to the xj-server(s)...
to let players choose their category on their own would even make it poss to create three (or more?) groups as aetius mentioned before.
i look forward to it!
edit: gogo aetius =)
I think 2 categories would be enough.
Follow koukouz's suggestion could do a system which will automaticly determine wr holders to pro group when you're joining the server and others players are just "amateur" group.
Okay guys, first of all thanks a lot for your suggestion.
I had a little conversation with Exolent to see what if possible and what is impossible, so here we go.
Obviously the 2 class system would be the only class system possible because the 2nd class in the 3-class system is impossible to determine automatically by the plugin and would cause a lot of work for admins to help manage the classes properly. Having players choose their appropriate class will probably not work out in 90% of the cases, because they can lie about their class to have a lower limit for the coins and XJ doesn't have enough admins to check every player manually (if every player decided to fake their class to the easiest one). Maybe some guys would be volunteering for the first months, but after a while this is exactly the kind of (robotic) work nobody enjoys to do and we're going to have the same activity problem as we are having with the cup admins.
I'm personally still a big fan of my original idea to be honest, even if it is easier for more experienced players to get it than noob players, it's because they are better at maps and deserve it more. If a "noob" really wants VIP, they can improve their skills and try to get better times (or no-check 150 maps, without making it to the pro15, because that will give them a point as well); that's one of the main ideas behind this, some accommodation for the pros (some complained that there is no "free" hook at all) and a challenge/motivation for the normal people/"noobs".

As I told you, just compare the 2 and 3 classes system.
A person who would try to cheat and go in a lower class in the 2 classes system would be very easy to find, let's take only recordholders for the "pro" class, I think no record holder will try to cheat anyway.
In the 3 classes system, let's say no record holders would cheat aswell, there are only amateurs left. BUT, in this case, a 3 classes system is just like a 2 classes system (the amateur class of the 2-system include the noob and amateur classes of 3-system). In this case, it's just a matter of challenge people want to have, let's say a person who would join the first class would only have to get 150 coins, but if someone who likes competition wants some harder challenge (I'm sure there are many players like this, I myself would have chosen this solution back then), he would just step into the second class and go for let's say 250 coins. In conclusion, there is no cheat possible, except from the record holders side, which is, as I said, kinda unlikely, and anyway very easy to fix.
All in all, I'm just saying adding 3 classes would just give some additional challenge, without being an additional work for admins, it's as I proved exactly the same.
I would just like to repeat a part of my earlier post, just to support the 3-tier system :

There is a possible way to find out about "cheaters" for those classes, that is everyone who wants the XJ coins gotta sign up their steamID at their XJ profile, here at the site? Also see how many XJ coins they have on the profile, visible for all users.
then admins could check for possible multi accs or fake accounts..
this would obviously give some extra work for the admins, but also keep the coincheaters away..
It's a really enjoyable idea faker, i can just accept it. I hope it will be soon on xj servers :) gl
I think that class systems is pretty retarded, it's unfair.
copied.
You can also add that if the time is better than wr, he or she receives 25 points.
400 would be enough.
the problem with the 150 1 point nochecks is the vote system. everyone is voting the maps that they enjoy and allready know. i doubt that 150 diffrent maps will be played in one month. and even if so. you have to be there.
imho there is about ~50 maps that are played constantly.
(talkin about the easy average server)
