Map noms - No votes thread
This is bad. As you can see, this topic is practicaly dead, even tho there is lot of maps in map-noms and im pretty sure there is much more people, who would say „no.“
Maybe it really would be better, as Dacca said, in that topic, to create two threads - yes and no for voting.
Or allow posting „no“ votes in one thread (which is now only for „yes“ votes) and then simply count yes and no votes independently.
It's just an idea, but this really need an improve.
Maybe create poll for each thread :s
I have to agree with Perdo, I had this idea since the beginning.
The reason it's much better is very simple : The number of "yes" votes is not representative of the whole community, because let's say out of 50 000 members, only 30 members think the map is good enough to be accepted, which is not a lot... (I say 50 000, because you can't say who saw the thread and actually think the map is too bad, so you have to take everybody into account)
At least allowing a no thread would give you a percentage of "yes" and "no" and therefore you could apply your decision.
But still, the main problem is that it's very difficult to count on the members for such things, because some are too cool to test a map and give a proper opinion about it. (Sounds ridiculous, I have to agree, but it's how it works unfortunately)
However, not many people have played the map. And what if people just vote for their friend's map?

Well you don't come with a scoop, it's what happens in many cases, and it's the biggest problem of this system in my opinion. But you, admins, aren't blind anyway, you can easily see which is a random fake vote and which is a true one. I haven't found an idea to fix that yet, but control the votes with a limitation system could be nice... the problem is that there is no fair way to limit it, since every user should be able to vote :/
Anyway I think obliging voters to write a well-built text (like "architecture : .... / jumps : ... / ambiance : ... / vote positive or negative) would be a quite justified rule. It would sure decrease the number of votes (fake or true) but at least I think the fake voters who just want to be cool with their friend mapper will just give up (because these guys got a life, and don't want to spend 2 minutes on writing a text!!!)
agree with both, i posted in the sub forum about creating a vote with each map, faker answered with something about bots answering polls..
and for voting for friends maps, isn't that kind of what happened with uq_suncliff? i never even opened the thread and days later its been released. i heard it was full of russians voting for their map.
i think making something where a poll is only unlocked after a reply would be possible, and "limiting" the reply to over 20/30/50 words is also possible, isnt it? maybe that would help stop spammers and randoms from bloating vote results.

That would probably work best out. But yeah, it would be a problem with just people voting for their friends, which is why I like tfloft's suggestion:

So combining these too would make the best result, in my opinion at least. Though, I also think that too make sure no one just uses three multi-accounts, perhaps you shouldn't be able to vote if your account is less than a week old or something like that (Don't know if a week is to much or too little).
