Increase your FPS by optimizing winXP (lastly
1. Open your computer properties, by right clicking on the computer with the mouse's right button and selecting properties or go to Start -> Control Panel -> ("Performance and Maintenance" if you are with the default control panel) -> System -> "System Restore" tab -> check the "Turn off System Restore" -> Apply /OK.
2. Open your computer properties, by right clicking on the computer with the mouse's right button and selecting properties or go to Start -> Control Panel -> ("Performance and Maintenance" if you are with the default control panel) -> System -> "Remote" tab -> uncheck both "Allow Remote Assistance invitations to be sent from this computer" and "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer" -> Apply/OK.
3. Open your computer properties, by right clicking on the computer with the mouse's right button and selecting properties or go to Start -> Control Panel -> ("Performance and Maintenance" if you are with the default control panel) -> System -> "Advanced" tab -> "Settings" (under the performance topic) -> "Visual Effects" select "Adjust for best performance" (if you do not want your windows to look like "Windows Classic style" select "Use visual styles on windows and buttons", if you want to have a drop shadow on your desktop icons select "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop" and if you want to have a common task in the folders select "Use common task in folders", all of the listed options can be found in the "Visual Effects" tab on the bottom of the option list) -> "Advanced" tab -> select "Programs" for the "Processor scheduling" topic and "System chache" for the "Memory usage" topic -> "Change" button under the "Virtual memory" -> select "No paging file" -> Apply/OK.
4. Start -> Run -> write "C:\WINDOWS\inf\sysoc.inf" (without the quotes) -> remove all the "hide" in the text without removing the comas.
Example:
msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,hide,7
msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,,7
(This will show you all the hidden Windows components)
5. Start -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs -> remove all the unneeded programs in the "Add or Remove Programs" section -> go to "Add or Remove Windows Components" -> remove all the unneeded components on your windows.
5.1 STOP DOWNLOADING PORNOGRAPHIC MATERIALS AND DELETE YOUR ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARES...I have not been using an anti-virus program for two years now...and my OS has been running without any problems since then...if you want to be safe download a program, that can make an image/copy of your local disk(where your windows and programs are stored) and every time you have a problem you can just run the program and reinstall the windows by installing the copy of the old disk that way, you wont have to reinstall a windows for hours and install programs for a day.
5.2 I can see that a lot of people are worried not to get unwanted softwares on their computer, just by visiting a website (that is what you get for looking up too much pornographic sites :P) and I guess I can give you a solution to that. Download AVG (get the free edition if you do not want to pay any money). After installing it go to "Start -> Control Panel -> ("Performance and Maintenance" if you are with the default control panel) -> Administrative tools -> Services" and set all the anti-virus services to "manual". The tricky thing here is, that every time you start your game you will have to stop both your anti-virus programs and your anti-virus services (you can do this by going to "Start -> Control Panel -> ("Performance and Maintenance" if you are with the default control panel) -> Administrative tools -> Services -> double click the anti-virus services that you want to stop and set them to "stop". And every time you go to the web you will have to start up your anti-virus program(I think that the services will be activated automatically by starting the program, but just to be sure you can start them yourself just by going to "Start -> Control Panel -> ("Performance and Maintenance" if you are with the default control panel) -> Administrative tools -> Services -> double click the anti-virus services and press "start". I hope I have solved the big problem we have made out of this. :)
6. Start -> Control Panel -> ("Performance and Maintenance" if you are with the default control panel) -> Administrative tools -> Services -> disable all the unneeded services, if you are not sure if you want a current service to be "Disabled" put it on "Manual" that way, the service will be started when needed and done manually by you. Do not be afraid to change the options of a service, it will not allow you to change the option from "Automatic" to "Disabled"/"Manual" if the OS needs that service to run.
> DO NOT DISABLE SERVICES FROM MSCONFIG <
7. Start -> Run -> write "msconfig" (without the quotes) -> "Startup" tab -> Turn off the useless programs
> DO NOT TOUCH ANY THING ELSE IN THE MSCONFIG <
8. Update your drivers.
9. Google the software "cCleaner"(it is a free software), download it and clean your computer from all the useless files you have stored.
10. Deframent your local disks.

Yeah...you are right...there are loads of online porn sites from which you can watch without downloading ...you can watch it all night long...like a NIGHT ELF BABY...and nothing is going to happen(to your computer)...but please do not download it...or if you are thinking of downloading it, put a condom on your internet cable before downloading it :P
hey can u do other guide for increasing fps in windows vista please?
Yes...I am working on that.Everything is going to be finished before Christmas :)
who the hell is still using vista lol, fucking horrible OS.
and I'm sorry to sound like a douchebag, but are you fucking insane? NEVER delete your antivirus-program, your OS might look healthy on the outside, but I wanna bet 100 bucks that you have at least 1 virus without knowing. If you want better performance with antivirus-programs such as AVG, AVAST etc. with real-time protection....well, turn the real-time shields off temporarily, but don't ever uninstall it.
And the image-program probably wont "keep you safe", because if you get a virus it'll include the virus in the image-file, making you infected again when you reinstall. So please, delete that step from the guide(or at least edit it) :)
And don't delete the page file unless you're troubleshooting problems. You won't gain any performance benefit from it, trust me. Your computer needs the pagefile when you're running intensive apps and your RAM is completely used up, so only disable this if you're sure you wont need it and/or if you know you have enough RAM. Some programs even require you to have a pagefile wherever you need it or not. So I'll suggest people to keep it on their drive ;)
EDIT: I think I understand what you meant about the image/clone-tool now haha, I probably misunderstood it because of fatigue. Having to meet in school later and not being able to sleep anymore ftl! ^^

Word! Seriously, how can you suggest someone to delete their anti-virus software in the year 2010 AND for windows users, wich are targets for like 60'000+ virusses?

haha they are a lot more than 60 000 :P
The image/copy of the local disk does not change...it stays the same as the day you made the image/copy of it. There are programs that can install your image/copy of the disk without the windows being started up, but I am not sure if there are programs, which can do the same thing without the windows being loaded (loading the windows and starting up the windows are two different processes). You have to be 100% sure that you do not have any viruses on your disk(where your windows and programs are being stored), from whom you are going to make a image/copy. How can you be 100% sure about things like that?! Well...download all the needed programs you need (+ a good disk image/copy making program), store them on a CD,flashUSB or a place where they will not be deleted after formating your all of your local disks and reinstalling your computer, install the programs without connecting to the internet, set up your windows settings, make a image/copy of your disk (where the windows and programs are being stored). My father had a virus a cupple of months ago...and he was not able to start up his windows due to the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death)...guess how he fixed the problem... :)

what`s the effect of this operation?
Doh...this is not suppose to be step 7...to the question now...this reveals the hidden components of the windows (Start -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs -> "Add or Remove Windows Components" tab)... :)
I have talked with a lot of people and most of them were worried about their computer security. I think I have came out with a solution to all of your worries...please read step 5.2 :)
nice job you did there, but since we live in year 2010 I'd like to see windows 7 optimization. Not like I'm having fps issues in cs, but might help for other heavy games I'm playing.
As I said in my post...I am working the guides for winVista and win7 :)
