Drum'n'bass is an advanced continuation from its raw base-genre jungle. The creation of the genre began as a rather experimental combination of certain elements of a variety of genres. As this, nowadays a rather popular, genre was originated from the hardcore- and rave-scenes (in the Great Britain) it initially had a taste of techno and hardcore in the music, the first drum'n'bass-tracks combined the basslines of reggae tracks, some sped up hiphop beats and some elements of these techno-genres. As the genre finely separated itself from the hardcore-/rave-scenario it started to shape itself up and spread to even more "offspring genres". It appears, that the most popular type of d'n'b is what was once called clownstep due to the playful melodies used by such artists as Pendulum. There is a large variety of separate categories of drum'n'bass, and some people tend to use their personal methods of general categorization with a fork too large: they tend to encompass darkstep, neurofunk, techstep, breakcore and such electronic genres which can have a great resemblence to drum'n'bass. As I will begin to browse this thread I hope that I can find a large variety of songs which are not only directly posted by a general view of drum'n'bass which can be, for some, "liquid drum'n'bass" or, as previously mentioned, clownstep. Let us enrich this thread and post tracks of the various subgenres of d'n'b, let us widen our musical perspectives.
As some users of Xtreme-Jumps already know, my big brother (and in seldom occasions even I) creates some rather heavy electronic music. His main genre of which he creates in a rather highly productive manner is darkstep. Darkstep is a heavy, dark and often a non-melodic genre which is closely related to drum'n'bass and neurofunk as well as breakcore. If you wish to browse through some fine darkstep-tracks I recommend Current Value, Donny, Lucio De Rimanez and, lets say, Dean Rodell. If you are intrigued by the genre I recommend you to explore further and perhaps have a small glance at some of the production my brother has created throughout his years as an electronic artist. He has a YouTube-page with a large variety of songs, ranging from ambient, jungle, darkstep, IDM, breakcore, hardcore and many more genres which you might find interesting in some way.
Skelic & Mathizm - Havoc of Betrayal
Skelic - Irregular Beat Syndrome (Anything)
Skelic, my brother, a 23-year-old self-educated world-renowned philosophical author, has been producing music of various electronic genres for years. His journey, an internal one, within his mind, started when he was merely a young boy studying in junior high school as a 14-year-old student. He created some triphop-, downtempo- and occasionally an ambient-track or two. A classmate of his was interested in his ability to create impressive beats and tracks and he suggested a collaborative career with him. For a few years Skelic and his classmate Teemu worked on a project called SKK in which my brother created the beats and Teemu put the hip to the motherf*cking hop, if you know what I'm saying. His interest to rap/hiphop deteriorated whereas he began to gain awareness of the darkness within his soul and mind. After he had finished junior high school he proceeded to study in a vocational school and he graduated as a datanome in 2005-6 (can't remember the exact date, darn it). Now, for the last few years, he has been creating heavy music which reflects his everyday states of mind.
As I wrote that long promotional "speech" for my brothers work I realized that it may sound too much like a plain advertisement, but I assure you it is ALMOST 90% thread-related (approximately 87.3% or so). I apologize in advance if this wall of text turns out to be a too commercial one, but within this apology I must reveal you the simple fact that NONE of this is for profit. So far his production has only been a hobby for him.
Other artists
Having these certain matters settled I chose to widen the post to make it more appropriate and fitting for the thread. Below this text paragraph I will attempt to list some drum'n'bass tracks which some users might find useful to widen their personal perspectives of musical preferences, and hopefully even insightful (even though I do not analyze these artists even by the slightest way). Without further explicating I shall begin to list down some rather impressive musical creations performed by various musicians around the world.
Current Value - Polar Position
Current Value - CINE
Sub Focus - Last Jungle [Original]
Hostage - Unwanted Child
Donny - Symptomless Coma (Current Value VIP)
Lucio De Rimanez - I Believe
Lucio De Rimanez - Cats vs. Dogs
These latest creations by Lucio De Rimanez may be revolutionary and take part in the creation of a new genre yet to be greated. Lucio De Rimanez, a Russian producer with an imaginative style of darkstep, has willingly taken the brave step of giving darkstep a somewhat happier perspective. This heavy, even dark'ish production by Lucio De Rimanez is a move performed with complete awareness of its obscurity in comparison to the expected sorts of darkstep-tracks: the artist himself wittily asked his fans "what do you think about my new style of darkstep?" implying to the happiness he has placed within this previously thought of eternal darkness. Perhaps in the future we can read about new genres which originated from darkstep, and see Lucio's name as an "ancestor" of the genre. Who knows...
