Minecraft

So, I've gotta ask - is anyone playing minecraft besides me (and daza AGES ago!)?
If yes, tell me what you think about it.

Also, if possible, post a couple of screenshots of what you've built so far:-) (preferably SP or SMP builds, but creative is cool as well)
I'll post a couple of screenshots later tonight of what I've built in my singleplayer world.. remember, it's all legit! No cheats at all.

If you don't know Minecraft, it's pretty much a sandbox game with unlimited options for creative people. It's pixel graphics, which is kinda unique. You can also use both mods and different textures.
It's all blocks and everything is square. There are different kind of blocks to build with e.g. dirt, wood, cobblestone, sand and many more. Some blocks can be harvested without tools (dirt, sand, gravel) but they're harvested way faster using tools. There are also a quite large number of blocks which can only be harvested using tools, such as a pick axe. Some of those blocks would be: cobblestone, obsidian, ores (gold, iron, coal and so on).
Now, almost all blocks also have a use besides using them to build stuff and they're either craftable (using a crafting table made out of wood) or smeltable. Some of them are both smeltable and craftable (e.g. gold, iron). For smelting, ressources like wood, coal or even lava can be used for fuel.
Already now, should you be able to see the possibilities for this game, since you can build pretty much everything. Also, there are amazing landscapes, fantastic ambience music and no way to win the game for now, which actually dosen't matter anyway!

Now, in any game there has to be some kind of challenge and Minecraft isn't an exception. There is both day and night in minecraft switching every ~10 minutes. In daylight normal mobs like pigs and sheep (there are more) spawn they can be killed for ressources.. on the other hand.. when the sky turns dark.. "they" come.
Skeletons, running around, shooting you to pieces with arrows.. Zombies, chasing you to eat your brains.. Spiders, giant mutated spiders trying to kill you and eat you whenever they have the chance.. and the worst of all.. Creepers. You are well aware whenever there are monsters in your vicinity, since they all make sounds.. Except the creeper. You won't hear them until they're right behind and then the last thing you hear is "SsSsssss" and you're dead.

If you haven't tried minecraft yet, you really should. Only your imagination sets the boundaries. (There are also possibilities of making rollercoasters!)

Finally, there are a very unique system called "redstone" which is very similair to "WireMod" in Garry's Mod if you are familair with that. This is something takes a lot of learning but you can do really cool stuff with it. You can also just use it to blow stuff up, if that's something you enjoy (I DO!)

And of course, this is important, if you don't want the monsters there, you can always set the difficulty to peaceful and you'll be safe (except from HIM minecraft humor).

Judging by the videos, the game looks freaking AWESOME!

I recommend the "The MMORPG Project" server, it has 60 slot and really cool features all over the map.
