There is no difference between left and right pre, you just mirror the same movement

practice it for a bit, it's just as easy believe me

also switching your weapon to different sides (cl_righthand 0/1) could be a little help if any (-:

It's a bit different for me, I do 275+ prestrafe everytime on right, but when I try to make it on left I usually do 270-274. Rarely I go to 275+'s.

I can only pre in one direction effectively, which is the direction I've practiced the most (right.)

Also I think that you chose to do left or right based on what feels right - for me right feels better because of the way I hold my mouse - I tilt it to the left about 45 degrees, which means movements to the left feel a bit more awkward then movements to the right. I also hold it closer to the left of the pad (my arm turned inward from the elbow) so I move more "room" on the pad to strafe after the pre-strafe.

That said, sometimes my right pre gets "worn out" and switching to left for awhile can help me purge bad habits and give those fine motor muscles a break. Believe it or not, the tiny muscles involved in fine motor control can get strained, it's called Repetitive Strain Injury. They need time to rest/relax like any other muscle.
