FPS problems

when vent is running, counter-strike 1.6 (steampowered.com) drops in fps about 15 frames. I get 100 fps w/o vent but when vent is open I get 85 with my computer specs

any fix? any developer suggestions?

mh, i think u mean ventrilo with "vent" ..
well, i can't imagine that an old voice program like vent could smash your fps by 15 points in an old game like Counter-strike!
unless your computer is from the last century :) ..
perhaps your bandwidth is to small, so ventrilo could eat some up and down speed..
try to improve your fps with some highfps cmd's ..
..
but most ppl think FPS and internet connection ( ping) to the servers are 2 different things, but thats shit!
if your bandwidth gets abused, your FPS drop!
If i was you, i would first of all ( i would do it when i was every of you) check my netsettings, and improve them.. if you need help for your netsettings u can qry me or add me in ICQ or MSN, i can help to optimize your connection to the servers!
if nothing of all works.. format c: allways helps ;D

perhaps your comp is filled with worms and viruses..
let an antivir and an antispy and ad-aware program run through it,.. clean it up, delete files u dont need anymore and so on..
perhaps your comp is a big pile of mill :D

it's like @ home, if you don't clean up your room someday u are no more able to walk in it, because its crap on the floor! ( ;DD )


btw, i doubt u have 100 mbit connection... its LAN..
u probably checked your LAN-speed, cos usually 100/10 Mbit is a check for lan-cards

zhady shh with your connection you're only making me jelous. 9mb up, i get 45k up man.

But yeah it's nothing to do with your connection if you think about it, how can your connection have anything to do with your fps.

I think the problem your having is called Input Lag, alot of people have been getting it with the steam update/s

I've been told you record a demo whilst playing, to resolve the problem

ctrl+alt+delete / Processes / hl.exe / right click set priority Low

I used to get better fps with a high priority.
Sometimes you simply need to format your computer to get it clean and working smooth again.

Or you try some config options (mine are on the bottom) or you'll get used to fikons pure pwnage fps config :D link

okay some things to get straight.

First: I just copied this block out of my userconfig and it also comprised the mp_freezetime.
Right right, freezetime has absolutely nothing to do with the fps but I once put it in in an attack of slothfulness ;)

Next thing: I didn't just copied it out of a page somewhere in the web. I play no leagues at all and never even thought about playing only one ESL game ;) The most commands are known by mostly everybody but the others I found here and there.

I actually dont care if these commands are out of a wanna be config or not when its working :D

I would also have no problem with a "wanna-be" config when the fps get higher with it :>

the weather is a special point.
I know that its making the fps even worse and most of you set it to 0 but I like to still have all the weather effects. Especially because of the reason that my own map is based on the rain and this is a necessary effect :D

If u want to have a nice config u can use the cplgui, the cplgui fix all ur settings and so to be optimised for the cpl-tournament :D
