Startup problems
yet another stupid thread... so its about starting up my PC.
its been that way since the last week :E
It starts up (the fans start rotating, etc),but it does nothing. The screen is black, and nothing happens...it just stays black...maybe if I leave it work that way,it will stay black forever... i shut it down and start it again... the same problem... I manage to turn it on on the ~ 15 try...or worse...(40-50)
Does this have something to do with the windows,or its another problem, and what can I do about it? its annoying, i lose ~30 mins to start the pc...
Help greatly appreciated

If you have a reset button on your computer check if that button is not 'pushed in' and the same goes for the startbutton...
My reset button was 'stuck' in a position and that caused a problem similiar to yours. You may have another problem though.
It shouldn't be anything wrong with windows anyway, that's for sure. Some connection inside the computer might have come loose or something.
nah,the buttons are fine 0o
and I opened my pc when the problem occured, cleaned it up from the dust , checked the wires and stuff... i dont think theres anything wrong with the hardware...
I asked some people, they told me that it might have something to do with the graphics card...they also told me that its unlikely that windows makes this problem too o0
your motherboard :D
had the same problem with another pc, i think the mainboard just does not work correctly
When it 'doesn't start' do you hear the standard 'beep' the motherboard makes at startup? You know, you hit the start button *fans wind up* Beep! *startup screen appears*
If you don't hear that beep, or any other beeps, then your motherboard could be going bad.
That's the only thing that can cause a startup problem where it doesn't even go to the startup screen. Otherwise if, say, your ram went bad, or you took it out for example, the motherboard will give off a certain sequence of beeps (sometime the sequence depends on the brand) telling you that something went wrong at the RAM check (it isn't there!).
So your bios is probably going bad, meaning your going to need a new motherboard.

I was about to tell you about that beep sound, but I didnt think you would know what i am talking about
Well it doesnt. It triggers when the pc starts (on the 20 try)
sometimes I hear a continuous beep like the normal one,but much longer :E like 10-15 seconds long o0 (VERY rarely)
and another time, the pc produces a series of short, very loud beeps (that in my parents'opinion comes from the floppy o0 dont know why they think that)

check if bios might boot from ur cd station : x
never shut down your pc from now on :D
the problem could come from your vga/motherboard...

If the short loud beeps are continuious then that is sometimes used to indicate a system board failure. requireing you to replace the motherboard.
The beeps you describe, while they differ from brand to brand, are most common assoceated with some sort of motherboard/bios failure.
