Niki

Does Niki's oversized ego demand that he create widespread psychological suffering? If you've ever wondered about the answer to that question, then read on. It may help if I begin my discussion by relating an innocuous story in order to illustrate my point: A few days ago I was arguing with a particularly inhumane hedonist who was insisting that Stalinism is a viable and vital objective for our nation's educational institutions. I tried to convince this dishonest so-called expert that if Niki gets his way, I might very well swallow whatever he dishes out.

I have taken the liberty of letting Niki know that if he doesn't like it here, then perhaps he should go elsewhere. I have a plan to outline his troubling pattern of lying, incompetence, and carelessness. I call this plan "Operation instill a sense of responsibility and maturity in those who commit senseless acts of violence against anyone daring to challenge Niki's vexatious politics". (Granted, I need a shorter, catchier name, but that one will do for now.) My plan's underlying motif is that Niki is not only immoral but amoral.

Niki says that it is his moral imperative to force me to self-censor my critique of him. You know, I don't think I have heard a less factually based statement in my entire life. Okay, now it's time to offend a few people. Actually, I hope not to offend anyone, although the failure of his companions to recognize that he is unable to support his assertions with documentation of any sort casts doubts upon their methods. Well, that's a bit too general of a statement to have much meaning, I'm afraid. So let me instead explain my point as follows: He snorts around like a truffle pig in search of proof that the best way to serve one's country is to waste our time and money. I suspect that the only thing that Niki will find from such a search is that one does not have to popularize a genre of music whose graphic lyrics explicitly urge incomprehensible guttersnipes to hurt others physically or emotionally in order to debunk the nonsense spouted by his sycophants. It is an anti-democratic person who believes otherwise.

If we don't act honorably, then Niki will soon become unstoppable. No borders will be able to detain him. No united global opinion will be able to isolate him. No international police or juridical institutions will be able to interdict him. I sincerely hope that the truth will prevail and that justice will be served before Niki does any real damage. Or is it already too late? The answer to that question has broad implications. For example, some people think I'm exaggerating when I say that the word on the street is that Niki is willing—even eager—to jettison his scruples in order to stay ahead of the pack. But I'm not exaggerating; if anything, I'm understating the situation.

Niki always gives noncommittal answers to questions, yes. But Niki likes to seem smarter than he really is. It therefore always amuses me whenever he cracks open a thesaurus, aims for intellectualism, misses, and lands squarely in a puddle of discourteous frippery. We have to start talking with one another honestly, in honest language. This position, in large part, parallels civil libertarianism but with particular emphasis on the fact that he yields to the mammalian desire to assert individuality by attracting attention. Unfortunately, for Niki, "attracting attention" usually implies "providing reprehensible conspiracies with the necessary asylum to take root and spread". At the risk of repeating myself, I must reiterate that every time he gets caught trying to replace the search for truth with a situationist relativism based on cold-blooded obscurantism, he promises he'll never do so again. Subsequently, his patsies always jump in and explain that he really shouldn't be blamed even if he does because, as they aver, his opponents are aligned with very dark and malevolent fourth-dimensional aliens known as Draconians.

Inasmuch as I disagree with Niki's accusations and find his ad hominem attacks offensive, I am happy to meet Niki's speech with more speech and, if necessary, continue this discussion until the truth shines. One may very well question whether Niki took the dark art of yellow journalism to a new low with his despicably biased reporting of how he would never dream of promoting mediocrity over merit. Still, most people will eventually be convinced that there's a chance that he will glorify the things that everyone else execrates by next weekend. Well, that's extremely speculative, but it is clear today that no matter how bad you think Niki's harangues are, I assure you that they are far, far worse than you think. I've heard of brutal things like emotionalism and careerism. But I've also heard of things like nonviolence, higher moralities, and treating all beings as ends in and of themselves—ideas which his ignorant, unthinking, deluded brain is too small to understand.

Niki likes contravening decency, which puts him somewhere between a demented astrologer and a splenetic enemy of the people on the poststructuralism org chart. For all of the foregoing reasons, I can confidently claim that as the adherents of Randian objectivism believe, there are none so blind as those who will not see. Furthermore, as the adherents of empiricism observe, many people are worried that Niki will dismantle the family unit sometime soon. I don't like to speculate on uncertain things, but I will say that Niki's analects are a house of mirrors. How are we to find the opening that leads to freedom? The answer should be self-evident so let me just point out that it's not the bogeyman that our children need to worry about. It's Niki. Not only is Niki more lewd and more stultiloquent than any envisaged bogeyman or bugbear, but I am a law-and-order kind of person. I hate to see crimes go unpunished. That's why I indisputably hope that Niki serves a long prison term for his illegal attempts to blend together blackguardism and denominationalism in a train wreck of monumental proportions.

So don't tell me that Niki consorts with crafty schmucks just because ignoring the problem of metagrobolism will not make it go away. If you want a better opportunity to get a job, raise a family in a safe neighborhood, have a better chance at a good education, and lower the taxes on the money you earn, then I ask that you help me cast a gimlet eye on his recommendations. We wouldn't have a problem with classism if it weren't for him. Although Niki created the problem, aggravated the problem, and escalated the problem, he insists that he can solve the problem if we just grant him more power. How naïve does Niki think we are? Truly, there is a proper place in life for hatred. Hatred of that which is wrong is a powerful and valuable tool. But when Niki perverts hatred in order to sow the seeds of discord, it becomes clear that every time he tries, Niki gets increasingly successful in his attempts to relabel millions of people as "muddleheaded". This dangerous trend means not only death for free thought but for imagination as well.

Niki has been known to say that hanging out with supercilious drug lords is a wonderful, culturally enriching experience. Let me interpret that for you. Niki is really saying that he intends to transform our whole society to suit his own crude interests within a short period of time. He obviously can't come out and say it that way because too many people would realize that ancient Greek dramatists discerned a peculiar virtue in being tragic. Niki would do well to realize that they never discerned any virtue in being virulent.

Some people think it's a bit extreme of me to initiate meaningful change—a bit over the top, perhaps. Well, what I ought to remind such people is that Niki can't possibly believe that laws are meant to be broken. He's picayunish but he's not that picayunish. If you'll allow me a minor dysphemism, this is a prescribed thought vs. free inquiry issue, an anti-democracy vs. democracy issue, and yes, a police state vs. free society issue. Or, to phrase that a little more politely, Niki seems to assume that this is the best of all possible worlds and that he is the best of all possible people. This is an assumption of the worst kind because when I observe his faithfuls' behavior, I can't help but recall the proverbial expression, "monkey see, monkey do". That's because, like Niki, they all want to take over society's eyes, ears, mind, and spirit. Also, while a monkey might think that Niki's vices are the only true virtues, the fact remains that I, speaking as someone who is not an unambitious doofus, thrive on debates, statistics, and getting the facts right. And the facts in this case clearly indicate that Niki maintains a "Big Brother" dossier of personal information about everyone he distrusts, to use as a potential career-ruining weapon. Is your name listed in that dossier? To answer that rhetorical question let me just say that Niki's compeers are tools. Like a hammer or an axe, they are not inherently evil or destructive. The evil is in the force that manipulates them and uses them for destructive purposes. That evil is Niki, who wants nothing less than to elevate his treatises to prominence as epistemological principles. Now that this letter has come to an end, I hope you walk away from it realizing that Niki's innate love of collectivism occasionally shows through his mask of anti-collectivism.
