Jumping League
here is just an idea I had to push the scene a lil bit :)
I think there aren't so many people participating in the cups because cups are bound to fixed dates and times. In a League this problem wouldn't exist because everyone can challenge another one at any time (you can always find a time for the match when both are not busy).
Furthermore you can have clear rankings and active competion in the whole scene.
I would propose a league system like the ESL has, with ESL EAS point system. That means:
Each player nominates 1 Map. So you have 2 maps to be played (can also be 2 times the same). Both players meet on a server of their choice.
Player 1 Starts his Run -> finishes -> sv_restartround 1 -> player 2 starts -> finishes -> mapchange to 2nd map -> [same procedure like 1st map]
Both players record demos at any time (even when the other player is jumping!) So you have 2 demos of each run. Rules are the Same as for record demos on xj.
Results:
player1 is faster than player 2 on both maps (result=2:0):
3 Points for player1; 0 points for player 2
player 1 is faster than player 2 on 1st map but slower on 2nd map (result=1:1):
Both players get 1 point.
This was written down very quickly so pls dont blame me for mistakes in the text. If you kile the idea i could specify it more or even work out a whole concept.

Cups are not fixed at any dates or times. When a cupadmin have time to/want to start a cup he does.
Your ide is sweet as candy, and you´ll never know what the future will bring :)
A Climb League would be nice!
Every player could have fun because he can climb against a player who has the same skill level as heself! =) And the Top matches should be played at the XJ Server, so that 100 peepz can spec it! *gg

The more I think about it, the more i like the idea. I think its worth trying realising it, even if the project failes (due to inactivity or less interest..)
atm i'm looking for some league scipts to realise everything... graphics and stuff are no problem, I'm a webdesigner :)
The only problem is, that we need admin who care for everything, so if some of the xj admins or other really experienced jumpers feel like helping me with that: tell me =)
if you have other ideas (for playmode) or special league-competition (team-maps? -> 2on2 ?) TELL-ME :D

There has been a kreedz climbing league, hasn't it?
I think it was on leaguez.com like one year ago or something. Dunno what it end up like.

yep we had one on leaguez... but it wasnt a success at all
we were only about 20 ppl in the ladder i think and there was too little activity so they deleted it
but maybe nowadays it would work because the number of jumpers has increased a lot...
Ideas like this have been around for ages no one has really persued it and when someone did it backfired.
Just too let you know there is going to be a kzleague shortly, and its being sponsored by a very large well known LAN community, the details are still being worked out as far as i know, but it will be hear shortly - kzmaps.eu & xtreme-jumps.eu will surley be posting alot of details about it as soon as its active :)
And also in the original kzmaps days, we hosted a nice league with 50+ players - went well for a while, but activity crumbled and it failed. But the rumours sound good :o

This idea sounds very nice. I think it will increase the number of jumpers a lot because people who aren't on the skill level as zhady, ndR etc. can take part in it, too.
It's completely impossible for newbs to get a world record so they just lose the interest in jumping but in such a league they can practise by playing against other people and this makes a lot of more fun than depairing of trying to beat a world record demo.
P.S. you have to think of the mappool. Very hard maps aren't good for a league because nobody wants to wait more than have an hoer till the other is finished with kz_sandblock or something like that.

the last post is now more than 1 year ago. nothing happend. I'd really like to know now if xj is seriously working, preparing or at least planning a jumping league. there are more and more users registered with this website (nearly 40k!!) but the differences in skill levels between the "pro's" and the normal players are growing aswell, too. In order to keep the majority of players interested and active there needs to be more than "just a few cups". There's no point against cups, but hey.. this can't be all...
What I'm offering:
- something like a masterplan for the league to discuss
- planning and developing a seperate website for the league
oh ehm.. please don't get me wrong: the last thing i want to do is split the community or something. I image this league as some kind of addition. It's meant to give any player the chance to compete against others who are on the same skill level as they are.
Please just give me some kind of statement otherwise I take that as an "we don't have any interest in that" which means that i would do this as my own project (and not as a "xj-league" or something)

Agree. There are only about 30% or maby more Hard pro's and other are only avarega or lower. Like me :) if this would happen count me in ! :x

if you want we can have a little conversation in ventrilo or teamspeak about that, I'd really appreciate that, because we do have interests in doing such a thing, but we kinda failed with our "plan" because it's very complicated to realize a project like this.
The probably best thing would be if you joined #faker? in IRC so we can have a little conversation, maybe we can pull off something together :)
