I been thinking for some time to ask Xtreme-Jumps.eu some questions and today is that day.

1)What's goin on with XJ servers ? It been pool about what maps http://xtreme-jumps.eu/e107_plugins/poll/oldpolls.php?112 should server use, it been almost 1 year ago ? When is gonna servers will open? They have bug in a nub/pro15 plugin, i been beaten some maps and my nickname wasnt in pro/nub15. And what maps would run on server 1 and server 2

2)Whats goin on with demo releases? ( i know that i cant ask this but i think that this question interesting not only me ), Demo releases suposes to be in every 1 week ? Maybe its delaying becouse of lack of demos, my thinking is that demo releases should be every 1 week at least 1 demo is uploaded in 10 days. The fact is that demos are so strong today and every demo beaten these days is masterpiece, that need to be appreciated and make wr release to that demo.

3)Tournament What goin on with tournament ? I been Stopped long time ago, when it will run again ?

4)New Website What is with website,It will no be bad to Post some previews about that

5)XJ weekly ? Will it again be written

Note*
*In my opinion (and thats only mine opinion)It seems that XJ is in a hard times.Lot of people that supported and worked with these site left XJ, It's not have competitions and wars in recording and top 3 placec no more, Lots of pros droped recording, Forum is dead.

I think that lots of new facec and people would love to help to lift this site again on feets.

What you think about all i writte ?

HOW TO MAKE XTREME JUMPS MORE POPULAR THEN TODAY ?

All answers are welcome, dont forget that we can together make tomorrow better :) PEACE!

Let me answer all question with just one word: nothing

MrMystery13/12/2011 18:31

Time passes and people are less interested in it. Just look through recordholders list. How often do they visit this site? Once in a week? This is the answer for demo releases.

I agree with you, but 1) do you really need the new website? I mean is it something that worries you that much? I doubt that. Wait for it. Well, you are definitively right about servers, since they are shit nowadays. Can't find other word for it. What I really find fun on this community are the tournaments and cup servers. Since I don't like overgeekin a record just to get a wr which means nothing on this community and it's a full nonsense nowadays to waste that amount of time for one demo, I find it much more interesting and better playing tournaments because they involve your attention, self-control and skill instead of time wasting.

So my opinion is that XJ should freakin take some time, since they do have and lying about this is way too lame and way too obvious. Just try to follow xj an entire day and see how often admins actually visit website. And guess what? "They don't have time". Ye, sure, these lies work only on kids. I for example somehow manage to work, have personal life and have free time, even though I have a lot of work. So, what the hell are with this lies? I don't get it when you believe them.

Back to my idea anyway: they should simply reserve some freakin time nd manage the servers, since it involves easy work, very easy work indeed. I bet it would take maximum 2-3 hours of work to make functional some already done plugins on a server if they wanted to. So, what on earth are they waitin 4? Next: the tournament, which ain't a big deal as well. I think they should simply cancel the current tournament since many players probably gave up . OR they could make another tournament, a bigger one, where they could already include the current players. XJ weekly is a nice thing, but it involves a lot of work, so they should find people who have a lot of free time.

That's all, sorry if I'm bein rude, just nerves. Ofc not coz of xj, bt whateva.

Seriously?

XJ needs, imho, new ppl who are motivated in running this site; and new maps, every week or so, to make current pros more motivated in recording and also to see new jumpers.
Forum wise, it's up to us to make it more "alive", funny and interesting.

killahurtZ13/12/2011 19:05(edited 13/12/2011 19:09)

Very well sayed MrMystery and finzEr :)

P.S People would like to here some answers from Admins like faker, ndR, CyclopP

Nikša Jovanovic13/12/2011 19:32

Since I am just a coder here, I can't give you a proper answer, insteado of it, there will be some changes positive of course.

Mehz13/12/2011 19:40

lol xj is obviously dead

FLP13/12/2011 21:28

it's simple xj should kick inactive admins and add new ones

remake14/12/2011 05:58

faker is inactive.

Omg people just try to understand it, it's quite easy. Counter-Strike is too old game and there is an undestandable lack of new players coming to this community, old players/members simply don't give a fuck about it, we have played this game for such a long time and we do not need to play it more, just because we don't want or we aren't enjoying it anymore.

More new maps idea? It would solve NOTHING.
We have had a huge map release few days ago and hey, what's the situation? Pretty much same. It changed nothing, few geekers are geeking these maps on their local servers, few new threads were created in the forums about it and few replies were posted, nothing more.

New admins? Admins can't do NOTHING when there are not players which are interested in the community. Yes, admins could write long newsposts etc, but what would it change? Few more comments, few more talks between same few people.
Admins are not able to get community back on feet (as you said), only players can!
Yes i admit, more activity from admins would help a little, but don't expect that this community will be so alive as few years ago.

Do you know WHY the forums are dead? Because people themselves aren't posting anything new, do they need admins to create a new trickjump thread and post something there? Do they need admins to create some interesting offtopic threads? No they don't.
As i said, there is an understandable lack of new players, don't expect from the old ones to talk about same thing long years.

And let me tell you something, personally, if i wouldn't be a founder of KZSK I would forget KZ long time ago and there wouldn't be any upcoming map from me.

Try to get it, you can't stop dying of this project, it's just a pretty much expected thing. I'm giving this maximum one and a half year and xj will be definitelly off in my opinion.

killahurtZ14/12/2011 08:16

I appreciate what you wrote Perdo and i agree with you

Ovidiu Dumitru14/12/2011 09:45(edited 14/12/2011 09:47)

Hey killahurtZ.
First, I appreciate the way you asked these questions and that you want a polite conversation on this subject.

Everything you see or feel that is running slow or not at all (inactive) can be blamed on the new website project and on me.

Why on the website project?
Because the staff's desire was to create a friendly and professional place of work, but unfortunately after years of struggle that desire didn't come true. We thought (and still do) that the new site we are working on could solve this.

Why on me?
Once I got promoted, I made from the new website my top priority here, so all of my resources went there.
We recruited lurp as the new coder and I made the mistake to put my trust in him. After months of work, everything was finished, including the website design and the new CMS (a custom CMS built from 0), the day when he was supposed to hand over what he did came. Unfortunately when the day came, lurp was gone with everything. Since then (September/October) I'm trying to reach him so we can solve this mess.

When I saw that everything is finished, I decided to put everything on hold here at XJ, thinking that the new site is coming very soon. It was MY PERSONAL DECISION.
So all the activities we had here, were put on hold or delayed:
1)Tournament: the tournaments we are running here, especially the latest one "Do you dare risk it all?" have an amazing potential. I couldn't let it go to waste because nobody took us serious with the current design we have.
I had numerous offers of sponsoring the tournament, but nothing big as we deserved.
The tournament isn't canceled, it's just delayed. When it will be back? I don't know... with the new site. When will the site come? I don't know that either. You see, it's a domino effect...

2)Cups: The new plugins are ready, but I didn't have time to install them, since I took care of the rest of the things here on xj. I needed someone to step up and take care of the installing part, but no one did. I also waited for the servers to become fully functional, which brings us to the next problem:

3)Servers: All I know is that a deal has been made with Exolent in the past and that supposedly he is still working on solving the crashing issues we currently have, so we can play cups without any worries. I wasn't in the management staff when Exolent was brought to take care of the job, so I can't say much about his status. However, I will take the matter in my own hands and try to get things going.

4)Demo releases: Yes you are right. The plan was to have 1 or 2 demo releases per week, but lately, unfortunately there haven't been a strong activity in the submitdemos area. This is why, ROTWs are sometimes delayed as well.

5)Map releases: I admit that here we could have moved faster, but everytime things got a bit better, went worst: it started with the summer vacation when almost everyone was off. By the time they got back, some checkers had to leave again, having to deal with other problems in their lives. All this time the map team functioned with just some of its checkers, thing which wasn't very helpful for us.
Another thing is that went we finished checking the map, if we find bugs or any other problems, we have to send it back to its creator to fix it. If we do it like this 2, 3 or 4 times, or even more with each map, it takes an awful long time to get every map ready.
Like I said, I admit that we could had moved faster, but this process takes time.
However, like you already witnessed, we managed to put up together a map release.
At the moment, there are plans to make a new release this weekend, and after that, probably one more for Christmas.

6)Weekly: To put it simply, there aren't any guys who are willing to take care of this. We tried with so many new admins, who were really eager to work, but when they saw how much work is really involved there, they didn't continue.
Here we simply need work force, but no one is willing to do it.

Also, I have to say that there is a bit of truth in the saying "CS is dead", but just a bit. The fact is that other games took the lead now, and CS has been left behind. However, my opinion is that we could still make great things out of this game. But who knows... maybe we will move to other new platforms. Depends on what Valve will provide for us.

If I left anything out, please let me know.
And I'm sorry if my text is hard to follow. I just came home from work and I'm a bit tired.

Oh and at the moment we are trying to find a solution for the new site. When to release it, how to release it, if we should release it without a strong CMS behind, mostly technical stuff. The moment is near and it shouldn't take long before it will happen.

Thanks a lot,
CyclopP - COO of XJ

finzer14/12/2011 20:07(edited 14/12/2011 20:07)

Thank you CyclopP for taking the time to answer! highly appreciated ;)

killahurtZ16/12/2011 08:09

Only one thing why you don't find replacement for lurp ? is there someone who can do his job responsibly and conscientiously?

Thank you very much CyclopP for your answer, you dont miss anything, everything is clear to me now :) all i have to say is Thank you very much for your time and hard work to this community. I appreciate it very much, thank you one more time :)

maybe its late to throw upon a viewpoint, but as they say, its never too late to tell what you feel, so i would just go by what i felt by reading some other members before me and also cyclopp's post. its been a long and common story going on in the air, whats up with xj, etc. maybe the following things would help to understand the situation a little better.

cyclopp's intervention

not realizing the basic need of the hour, the majority of the herd of the online visitors, day-in-and-out believe to the common propaganda that it's the admin's negligency that's letting the place down. if only 10% of those believers had a little access to their grey matter which probably have become redundant would have easily understood that its those handful of peeps who are still keeping the place alive.
in absence of faker and other senior admins, he had efficiently managed to keep the place lively and active to his best limits, not forgetting every people had his own share of lifeshare to keep up and responsibilities to attend. when the recorders unwind themselves and give it a break, we say "ah hel's on a break". when an admin's on a break, we say "ah fuck, sack him".

i remember when in some old forum http://xtreme-jumps.eu/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?289353 i said a lot on how rotw's had gone boring, how the writing pattern has become dull and flavourless and a lotta people agreed in unison with me. cyclopp, on the other hand, took up the pain in restructuring then and since them we had seen a delicious prsentation on the rotw's every week. we shud realize the fact that its not an easy task to produce something to suffice the flavours of the readers to something as stereotype as the rotw's, where everyone just wants to see the run, and adding a presentable description is a commendable deed, indeed.

recording corner

a lot of hue and cry has been around the corner these days, regarding who's there and who's not there. time goes on, older players get busy with life, and newer players keep coming up, that's the general law of life and nature, that's how things evolve and that's how things should be. we cant expect zhady/kkz to record for 10 years, they got more important issues which is known as fixing life, getting a degree, getting a job, getting settled. if you cant keep up with that, well, move aside and let the young and fresh blood come in. obviously also we gotta understand that records and competition are getting tougher by the day, its not where u sit for a record and get it in ten minutes, hence the relative diminishment in the showup.

forum activities

this zone has a miscellaeous effect or reasons for its present state of affairs. the primary neglected thing that went by in this regard is realizing it's the crowd, users, readers who manage the forums, create and handle the forums. if you do the shit, it'll mess it up. previously we got better forums and discussions because people were more humble and modest, and everybody was keen on helping each other. while on the other hands, nowadays the people realize it's the place to flamewar and vent their anger, which they cant do in their real life, but in the midst of it we forget doing it here won't just cut the deal. about getting new zones and all, just think out of the box, and we could get interesting forums too. it's not that we are not getting interesting forums to share the stuff, it's just that they have considersably reduced.

member management

majority of the groups wanna see some of their idols getting unbanned or active in xj again, which is not fully wrong from their part, but majorly for the betterment of the site and speaking from a wholesmome development and for keeping the sanctity of the place, some people are kept at bay. (yes you know about what i am talking about, so let that be expressed symbolically only).

weekly

i know most of the users do want a weekly to be active again, and acc to cyclopp too, where he said "but when they saw how much work is really involved there, they didn't continue" is not completely true.
ya i know, i had to quit out because i had some of my personal life to take care of, i had a piority run, and i decided to choose the former. i know this is not an excuse, so in the long run if this had affected the weekly corner, i apologize to cyclopp, but its like a chain reaction like perdo told, once you are out you lose the feel and then hardly you are up for it again.

the zone requires dedication from a lot of members at the right time, where everyone is willing to work and share their feeds, if anyone reluctantly brushes aside, the whole portion gets affected. its not that we hadnt tried. we tried to implement new stuff, new polls, new weekly movie, new reviews, new concept called thought of the week, but its upto the members to realize that not every weekend you get new stories and gossip, its a relativistic ideology, some weeks are gonna be cool, or some weeks are gonna be dull, its a common thing that we have to put up with.

its not that we never tried, for example, we opened up a new thread called http://xtreme-jumps.eu/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?280354 where we urged the people to share their portions of views, what they would love to read and discuss upon, but hardly any member showed up interest, for maybe according to them, trolling is the fashion of the day.

moviemakers corner

if u guys had been a little bit more observant, you could have prolly noticed that there has been nothing more developing in any of the contemporary zones than in this area. new guys kept coming up, new innovations were being done, and a newer way of visualizing the things crept up. if that's being dead for you, take a good look around, and produce a better output and bring back the crowd, if you can.
