Plugins legal for recording?
Hi there,
I am wondering what plugins are 'official' and OK for recording demos, both map runs and long jump demos.
Which are ok?
1) Bjormi's LJ Plugin
2) Lt.Rat Plugins (and variations)
3) Exolent's Jump Stats
4) Schlum's Edge Distances
5) Jump bug stats / edge bug stats
6) Recording plugins (like KZDemo)
The reason I ask is that fame's 270cj block demo was recently accepted, and I read in the forums that it would not be accepted because of the prestrafe shower. Also, akkord's demo included a lj plugin with a jumpoff/block shower which is more functionality than the basic XJ back provides. His demos were also accepted.
I am happy that those demos were accepted and I think it would be a real shame if they were rejected for plugin reasons since it isn't clearly spelled out which were legal. But this leaves me confused as to which ones are OK or not.
Could an admin help clarify this? Maybe XJ could come up with a list or a brand new XJ plugin pack with all legal stuff.
Good thread, even I was thinkin to start something like this, mainly because of the 346938642398 available plugins these days, and ppl using and exploiting all the stuff, and no one (other than the insider xj admins) knows what's legal and what's not. Giving a proper legal list of what can be used and what not be used would be useful to the players and recorders and also would reduce the workload of the demo admins who dont have to check for other issues.
I think it's time higher admins (higher=eDark/faker/cyclopp) should give a thought about editing the official xj plugin pack and provide a little updated pack which suffices the basic needs of the recorders.
Or if the case is something like the statement that says: "this is the minimum plugin set u should have to run to get the official settings"; then they should come out with an alternative complementary extra offical .amxx's that are used by ppl not "included" in the official set like demorecord/edgedistances/wr/semiclip/allchat/kzbug stats/weapons/ and all other stuff that are used by players. The main objective should be able to find a complete pack from a single site.
I dont think Borjomi's pack is legal. Recorder's should avoid using it.
Abt lt rat's modifications http://www.sendspace.com/file/l4nihz this contains the three modifications of the lt rat's plugins. Are they safe or they should be avoided? (saw the ppl asking avatar's plug in some other thread, its nothing but just a modification of the 3rd one.)
Exxolents' jumpstats has been outta modification and been without a possible bug check version for years, so i think it should be happily avoided.
The official xj ljstats.amxx is highly outdated, ya i know the bj stats cant be included because it never shows up the bj distances clearly, but i think you guys should do something abt it.
If borj stuff gets abolished then there should be something that gives access to the measure of the dcj distances, someone should make a plug that contains just the basic 5 distance lj/bj/cj/wj/dcj.
And I still think some demos in the wr list contains prestrafe shower, maybe they are gonna do something abt it.
24/01/2012 10:24good thread. well as soon as i heard that uqstats may give an advantage i changed to avatars ljstats instead so you should that one to your list too .p
and about that showprestuff, didnt spader had it on his 256? not 100% sure if he did
and yes, the official XJpack needs to be updated, the ljstats there are just too old to use in LJing
As Borjomi said and faker confirmed (in his thread), uq stats are safe to use and give no advantage (the plugins with kayne were altered by a 3rd party).
