So....... I always thought that bhopping is kind of a 'random' thing, for example, long bhop jumps are all down to if you get a perfect bhop off or not. It's true, yes, but alot of you will disagree with me saying that its 'random'. The reason I created this thread is to fix my (and others) misbelief of jumpframe being random. I'd like to know

- How bhopping/jumpframe really works.
- How to perform a perfect bhop.
- Does the amount of scrollclicks affect the outcome in any way?
- How to train it.

Haha, no, I'm not really asking you how to train bhopping, I would just want to find out how the jumpframe works!

Well usually its random unless u make it less-random, what do I mean:
Your goal is everytime to reach 299 speed, and then jumpoff - this means that u must build a prestrafe reflex where u do the same ground prestrafe everytime and the same strafe(s) for the jumpoff prestrafe. In theory u can hold W/A/S/D and jumpoff with 250 u/s groundspeed and practice only 1 strafe to reach 299 speed (because its more random if u try with different ground-prestrafes and more than 1 strafe for u'r bhop prestrafe).
The jumpframe works like this -> u'r in air, and at the first frame u hit the ground u must do "+jump" to do it perfectly.
Sounds simple? It's not (if)when u do it by hand.
-If u use "space" (hit +jump 1 time only) u risk that u press it too early or too late (1 frame before or 1 frame after)
-If u use scroll - like the most of the times (u actually spam +jump commands) note that if u'r scroll is very sensetive u won't be able to jump - Why? Its because when u use +jump in some frame, in the next frame u must have -jump, to reset the command - using very very very sensetive scroll spams +jump so fast, so u have +jump on everyframe - u may have it but u will be able to jump only once(the first time u use +jump).
So whats the conclusion?
When u jump normally with scrool u spam +jump commands with 1-2 frame gap (1-2 frames u dont hit +jump - and u are able to reset the command)
But what happens when u have +jump or -jump and the first frame u land?
- If u have "+jump" u will jumpoff with the speed u got, for example u gained 293 speed, and u jumpoff perfectly u will have prestrafe of 293 speed
-If u have "-jump" and u "+jump" 1 frame later after landing u will have slowdown. Slowdown should be calculated like: Speed - Speed*frametime*friction = New speed
But that formula is for 1 frame, I don't know how it works with chained frames (like when u jumpoff 2-3 frames after landing).

Note also that the difference between bhop scripts and bhop hacks is that the scripts spam +jump with 1 frame gap(+jump;frame-jump;frame) and u have 50% chances for slowdowns, but the hacks have ground detection (so u always hit +jump at that first frame u landed).

EDIT: Simple example why +jump command must be reseted to have effect: If u try to bhop, holding space - which is bound on "+jump" u will fail (u will jump only once). If u try to bhop, pressing space constantly- u can success - doesn't matter u have slowdowns (because u create a frame gaps between each +jump commands - and the game automatically does "-jump" there).
It looks like this:
- Holding space: +jump;frameX...
- Pressing space constantly: +jump;frameX;-jump;frameX;+jump..
-Scrolling fast: +jump;frame;-jump;frameX..(example)
-Scrolling really fast: +jump;frame;+jump;frame;+jump...
frameX is some amount of frames which varies like the time u hold space each time or the gaps between each scrolling.

What if i have this "sensitive scroll", cant i bind "mwheelup" "+jump;-jump"? Or will it help if i have simple scroll?

EDIT. Understood. In one frame + or - and in next oposite. Like in electronic, on each elektron goes neutrone. /bad eng/

The examples I was talking about using only "+jump" bind, but If you want to make u'r scroll reset the command immediately you should use: "+jump;wait;-jump;wait" bind, I'll explain:
"wait" command is a delay, which is 1 frame, no matter frametime. Adding action commands like "+jump,+duck,+left,+right,+moveleft/right.." before "wait" command means that on that frame it will perform the action u set.
Like "+jump;wait" is a 1 frame where u do "+jump" but it won't reset you, because using very sensetive scroll will spam "+jump;wait;+jump;wait.."
If u use "+jump;wait;-jump" - u don't putted frame after "-jump" command, and again with the very sensetive scroll u will have "+jump;wait;-jump;+jump;wait;-jump;+jump..."
but u won't be able to reset it cuz u don't have frame for "-jump".
So the correct way is "+jump;wait;-jump;wait" - which means two frames "+jump;wait" and "-jump;wait" and when u spam it with very sens scroll it will work like bhop script (but u still need to roll it each time u land). The same way u can create jumpbug "script", but u know that "wait" command is forbidden so its considered as a cheat and its easy to detect it.

So if i use this like my bind for bhop i can improve or it will be easier to bhop if i understand it right. But "wait" command is like cheat so it illegal but as i think not every server has antycheat to this.

Thanks now i perfectly know how bhop is made.

Thank you Grrr for the wall of text and sharing your knowledge. I found this really helpful, to know the theory and the mechanics behind the jumps. I'll see if I can improve my bhops when I get home! :)

Well its good and interesting to know such stuff, I wish u luck! :)
