Video Clip in Map
so im sure its possible to put a video clip inside a map but how ?:D
thank u.
The only way to do it is by using animated textures, the result is more of an gif image than a video clip. If i remember correctly, the max number of images you can use is 10.
You can probably synchronize two of this animations to form one, with a multimanager, but it may take to many resources this 20 extra textures...
You can use some software to convert your video into a gif animation, then open the animation with a gif editor, and extract the images from it.
The textures should have +0,+1,+2 etc in front of the name to work as a animation.
Example:
+0myanimatedtexture
+1myanimatedtexture
+2myanimatedtexture
+3myanimatedtexture
..................................
+9myanimatedtexture
You will probably be able to and sound to the animation, but i don't think you will be able to synchronize it with the animation...
animated textures are good for some flashing effects mostly, considering you can use just up to 10 frames and you cant set up frame rate for this.
Using sprites allows you to make frame sequence with a lot more frames and you can configure frame rate. Theoretically there is no frame limits, but there is some size limits (I dont remember that exactly already), so as far as I remember you can do around 30-50 frames with average size dimensions.
Also check out de_beach, mapper used different framerates for different clip parts (on TV) and it turned out very realistic and synced with sound
SilverNinja tried with the stop timer settings but he gave up because it was too hard. He was supposed to build a TV with a clip of my 256 LJ block in it. I captured around 200 frames for him with startmovie and it was simply too hard :(
xD thanks i will try someday. .:o
check deathrun_jigsaw map from tincho, he used the technique above to create a TV where jigsaw was talking :P
lol jigsaw epic map :D
