Transparent textures light problem
I have a huge problem with the transparent textures, such as ladders, vent, windows etc. The texture itself (blue color) turns transparent, however the main thing is much brighter than the whole room. How can this problem be solved?
I use fun_illusionary instead of func_wall.
func_wall:
Render FX > Normal
Render Mode > Solid - No Light [For blue background or Additive for black background]
FX Amount > 255
can someone post a solution for this? nerv's response doesnt really get to the problem
The reason why the texture becomes transparent and brighter is because Render Mode was set to Texture which is wrong.
The solution is exactly what nerv posted.
You need to set the Render Mode: Solid (no light) - which basicly removes the blue color
Render Mode: Additive is used for textures that have black on them (this removes the black).
If your brush really needs to be transparent, the only way is to get the latest version of vluzacn's ZHLT v33 which essentially creates lightmapped textures in your bsp. When you have a ladder though, it doesn't really need to be transparent (transparent = Render mode - Texture). All it needs is a Solid render mode that will make the blue pixels of all { textures transparent.
For things like transparent glass etc, the only workaround is the new tools. Check this http://forums.svencoop.com/showthread.php/41411-Vluzacn-s-ZHLT-v33-Update?p=498122#post498122
