Host_Error: Bad String
When i want to create a LAN server this
Host_Error: PF_precache_generic_I: Bad string '@' occur.
I found on internet "the solution" yet i cant figure out how to fix it. I reinstalled whole CS and I tried every possibly solution that came to my mind but nothing seems to work.
Here is what i found about it :
This rare error only happens in game/server mode when sprites, models, sounds, or text strings (but not all strings!) are initialized and precached. If the string/name for the sprite, model, sound, or miscellaneous text string either starts with a non-printable ASCII character, or is 0 length (ie: starts with a non-printable null ASCII character), then the error will occur.
Solution: search thru entities like env_glow, env_sprite, ambient_generic, env_shooter, etc. - anything the engine has to precache a file for the bad name.
Hope someone can tell me what to do about it. Thank you
Well, i never had that error so my reply will be based on content of your post.
My best guess, based on error name would be that u have one or more files in cs folder that starts with string "@"...
If i was in your position, and i was wrong about "@" string, here is what i would do:
First, i would use google to find the list of all printable and non-printable ASCII characters. Based on size of each list, i would do following: if non-printable list isn't too long, i would use search on my cs folder using every letter from the list and look if there is a file that begin with any of those characters, if list is too long, than i would use printable list and manually search through cs folder for the name of a file that has character which is not on that list, and while i'm doing that, i would look for files that starts with 0 or have name with no characters in it...
If it is not a file name, than i would search through cs in-game entities for the same thing..
Hope u will find a solution.. :)
Thank you for that. Now the weird thing is i can't play maps from mapper TimmyCakes, kz_emblem, kz_abstract_plane, kz_brickfacility and so on.. other ones work just fine. Thats just odd :D
Anyway thanks again
If u have fixed that error, try to reinstall cs... Maybe that error caused some bugs...
