Need some help (Steam related)

Is it possible to make steam work like the old days?
I'm talking about having more then one account (more then one common folder). Before the update I had one account for gaming, one for movie making and one for KZ server. The thing that was great about it was that i didn't mess with my main cs at all (replacing files and so on). So what do you guys do? do you have a backup of your common folder which you replace afterwards. Do you use non-steam to make movies to avoid messing with the common folder. Do you know a way to make it work like it used to? multiple accounts, multiple common (cstrike) folders.

Yeah, but then i would need to replace all my files every time.
So far this seems to be the best solution:
1. Copy and paste folder.
2. Name second folder cstrike1.
3. Place moviemaking files in cstrike1.
4. When you wanna moviemaker rename the original cstrike folder to cstrike2 and the cstrike1 folder to cstrike.
5. Load game.
Altho i would prefer to not have to change the folder name every time i want to play/record/other.
