Hey guys,

i have some questions about lj distance (or cj/dcj/sbj doesnt have matter)
I already know some facts about this like gain + prestrafe = maxspeed and gain/airtime for 1 strafe and "lose gain" for 1 strafe.
But how actually we can calculate one lj distance with jumpstats (without the distance) ?
Is it something about maxspeed/airtime = ? or ... ?

Btw. Anyway sorry for my bad english.

Basically you are asking for a distance formula? Never got to think about it lol, very interesting.

Ask xPaw or someone ;3 .
Anyway, all I know about calculation are 2 things, how to calculate the gain from just strafestats and how to calculate distance if pre was higher (low pre stats i.e.)

Start = (Xa , Ya)
Finish = (Xb , Yb)
D = [(Xb - Xa)² + (Yb - Ya)²]< square

I think the distance is calculated by getting the coordenates of point A and B (where you jump and where you land) not sure, but if i were programing this would be the easier way to do it.

if there is such a formula , maybe we will can calculate longjumps limit. :D
@ShocK i asked about this because I was wondering how really is created jumpstats.
@nerv. can u explain some calculations with your formula (maybe CJ stats?)

EDIT: If we have this parameters like:
78-79.00000 gain
12 strafes
8,3 airtime for single strafe
277.xxx pre
and formula for distance
what we will get?

i guess he meant how to calculate distance with stats rather than distance with coordinates, idk though :3

lets check both of them

That's the Pythagorean theorem and the mathematics behind calculating LJ distance from stats with numerous parameters (or even just prestrafe and number of 100% sync strafes as parameters) is much, much more advanced. I do think lt.Rat tried to calculate the perfect longjump many years ago but I'm not sure if he was ever successful with that.

i read that exolent found perfect formula for longjump stats, thats exolent's lj stats plugin...how i remember...

There are too many variables for this to be precise aka you can't "calculate" it and think it's correct.

No math in longjumps

nerv.08/10/2013 15:19

i know he want the magical formula, but i dont think its even possible with these parameters, there are so much more on the line than prestrafe, gain , airtime etc. there are some fps issues, duck timing, strafe angle... i dont think anyone will lose time to do such a thing.

but the best lj would be with infinite strafes.

and he asked how the jumpstats calculate it , than edited the first post .
