I'm sorry to bother you guys with another question, but i think you're my last hope.

Ever since i made my longjump records 249,1 stats and 246 block on the same day, i thought i would start making progress and soon be jumping 250+. However, my jumps got worse. Now i barely jump over 245. I have been jumping the same stats for more than 2 months now, and i do nearly 500 jumps each day, 245+ i jump about once or twice. So, about 2 days ago, i think i figured out what the issue is. On my first strafe on every jump i do, the airtime is over 30% and the gain is more than 20. I started jumping, and i could not do a single jump without having this issue. Can anyone explain, is this what might be causing it or do i just have to nolife the juice out of kreedz in order to get my jumps better?

I have a picture of one of my jumps, if anyone wants to have a look.

Make bigger strafe on the others

f0rever30/12/2013 15:51

+1 Shake it bigger

znx30/12/2013 16:16

1st strafe should be 10-15 airtime and about the same gain.
If you can make it more gain then its good, but dont sacrifice airtime for that. Then just widen and smoothen the other strafes.

mao30/12/2013 16:35

I'm actually having the same problem, look:

LJ Distance: 245.168624 // Maxspeed: 314.125061 (41.440) Prestrafe: 272.684783 // Strafes: 6 Sync: 87

1 15.210 0.000 27.7 87
2 8.966 1.024 20.8 90
3 5.440 0.677 11.2 87
4 7.007 1.011 16.5 91
5 4.815 0.964 19.4 90
6 0.000 0.189 4.1 50

My first strafe airtime is way too big, but idk how to fix it, I stopped trying after that, you say bigger strafes but that would compensate for the first one?

Answer55830/12/2013 16:55

Well, that makes two of us.

Jumped for another 45 minutes and made no progress. I tried to widen the strafes, but it really didn't make a difference. I hope i'm allowed to include a demo, which i recorded. It's about 2 minutes of me jumping with hopefully wide strafes (tell me please if they're not wide enough) on a 220 block. Give me advice on how i did.

DEMO

You can't just wait and think, ok now im going to jump 250. That's not how it works. You gotta practice, learn from your mistakes, and then you can do it.

znx30/12/2013 18:31

Hmm, I'll check that demo later, anyway, what you do is, do 2 strafes, go to the 220 block and go 2 strafes. Slowly increase the speed, eventually your first strafe will be very less airtime. Then switch back to your normal number and try. You might need to geek 2 strafes a lot first.

check out your airtime direction. it's possible that you spend too much of your speed on a trajectory far wider than the line between each block. the less time you spend strafing in 1 direction (which will mean less airtime for each strafe), the closer to the straight line you will be.

just a random jump I just did:

LJ Distance: 245.223068 Maxspeed: 305.071746 (37.835) Prestrafe: 267.235992 Strafes: 5 Sync: 52
1 18.336 0.000 20.8 100
2 7.631 0.476 18.9 50
3 7.225 0.000 15.2 72
4 4.642 0.000 23.8 47
5 0.000 0.000 20.9 0

Dude, you are the estonian version of me longjumping.

Do this, start jumping with 3 strafes well opened and synchronized, when you get 242~ stats with 3 do the same but with 5. I had the same problem, but now I'm jumping well with 5 (but when I "reached" my first 250 stats I jump'd with 8 strafes lol), I'm opening more my strafes to the right side.

i'll join in too. same problem. this thread might be the very thing i'm looking for here and i'm sure i won't be disappointed.

The first strafe just wont go below 25 airtime. If i try cleaning that up and push it to 20, the rest of the strafes just seem to get screwed up by themselves!

Would be nice getting tips and stuff from people with the similar skill level atleast.

Here are a few advices from the worst longjumper XJ ever had:

reverse prestrafe
change mouse
straighten & fasten strafes
m_filer 1, -freq
buy a high frequency monitor

It is very simple to explain. Answer558 from your stats i can tell your mouse work is okay, but what you do with
"a-d-a-d" is the problem. Lets convert what you did in there "2d-a-d-1.7d-0.7a". Your first strafe is two times slower then your second and third. With 5 strafes you should have around 20-20-20-20-20 airtime, with 6 16.67..., with 7 14.233... Try this: warm up your fingers, then open notepad and just try taping a-d for one minute several times. Try different speeds, and check your results every time. If you get adadaddaadddaddadaad, you neeed more practise, look for adadadadadad.... Once you get better try faster and faster, after that join you longjump server and practise, you should see difference in few days. You can also try the same thing but hold d for 1 second and then start adadadad. so that you kind of recreate that prestrafe. It helped me, so try it, and remember do that notepad thing first to warm up, then do real jumps...

Interesting theory. I did the adad thing as fast as i could on notepad and the result is:
adadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadad
So, no problem there, i go into the game, and the issue continues. I guess i'm just gonna have to practice for a couple of days, and then see what the results are. Right now, i can not get the first strafe's airtime below 25%.

kujac30/12/2013 21:19

I believe you have problem with releasing d as soon as you leave the ground. In my case i had around 25 airtime on first strafe - 6 strafes, i had feeling like my finger sticks too long after i jump. After few months i fixed that, just by practicing faster "d release". But, the longer you play the faster you should be able to that...

Kristofuz30/12/2013 22:21

Wow i figured out the password of my old account :D
Anyway, thanks everyone for the help, and feel free to keep discussing your experiences with this.

mao31/12/2013 00:24

So maybe it all comes down to releasing the pre key faster. I think that's the matter, I'll keep practicing, thanks again!

Kristofuz03/06/2014 22:13

okay, so it's been 6 months, a lil bit of progress has been made

cant believe i managed to do this, basically started geeking like crazy and ended up improving my block rec by 9 units lol, from 246 to 255

rawerecord holder Tournament #104/06/2014 01:53

Incredible improvement dude. Is just amazing that you reached 255 block from 246 just in a few months. Also GJ for your KZ Baltic records.
I just improved to 250 block, need to practice more.
