Hey guys, so here is my problem: http://www.upload.ee/image/3920350/2014-03-03_00002.jpg the spikes are originally in the block under them and they are triggered by a button to come UP like in the pic, my question is why are they dark?

it's exactly because they are inside the block under them.

easy workaround is to start them in the up position and have a trigger put them back in at round start.

Yeah i know that but isn't there any way to fix it the way it is ?

You could make the block an entity so light can pass through.

how about func_wall ?

Make it a func_wall and make a quick test. Make sure not to set it as an opaque entity in the advanced Light flags of ZHLT.

EDIT: Alternatively, (assuming the spikes are func_door) you can set them in the UP position in hammer, Pitch 90 0 0 (downwards), Lip 2 units so that the tip doesn't show, tick Start OPEN.

This will make sure that the spikes are compiled outside of the underlying brush for the lightmap calculation and will get to the DOWN position at map load.

Change the render mode to texture-some light, this will make them a bit brighter than all the other blocks but it will look a lot better than black. My friend uses that method a lot and since they will only stay up for some time(?) it shouldn't bother anyone.

Is that a deathrun map ? Can't figure out why you would do that on a kz map...if it's not a dr map, please map something for dr too, you're good at it :D

yea it's a deathrun map it's a second version of deathrun_wild_easy -- deathrun_wild_2 :D
