Things change - A personal experience
Hello there :)
I feel like I have to express my feelings towards this game before I totally grow out of it. There's not a single person I know outside of this community who knows or plays kreedzing, so this is only place to go.
I'm turning 27 this year and playing computer games (well, I haven't played another game besides Counter Strike since 8 years) becomes rare these days.
I have a job that I love, friends and hobbies occupy my free time totally. Even if I get to play I get bored real quick. My skills start to fade aswell. It takes like an hour to get into all these techniques again everytime I play and I certainly don't have that much time anymore. It is frustrating aswell, because it's not that much fun when spending like 12 minutes on cellblock or getting 245-247 lj stats maximal when I used to be in way better shape. I've never been a pro, but the game flow certainly used to be cooler. However, things are changing.
I absolutely love this community and its geeks, filmmakers, staff, trolls etc. The cheaters somehow too, because they provoke heating discussions and keep the community alive.
These geeks inspired me in a way with their uber stats and creative explorations of shortcuts. Namely:
1. always look out for the shortest and easiest way to reach your goals
2. hard work pays off
Things worth remembering and adapting in reality.
What I always loved about this game was its autonomy. The creators would've never dreamed their game would develop its own life and brings up huge communities for different aspects of the game (kreedzing, surfing, hns etc.).
Discoveries such as Jump Bug, Count Jump or Ground Strafing FUCKING BLEW MY MIND! Everytime I think about it. Now we're having geeks jumping like 273 stats and players jumping from ginormeous heights without taking any damage, this is totally nuts lol. That's why I never really played the KZmod, because it was designed for kreedz, while the old CS 1.6 has deep roots.
I remember when I first got into kreedzing by playing Deathrun maps. I realized people could jump certain distances others couldn't. It amazed me so much how they could trick the system and eagerly searched for jump techniques. I even had a sketchbook where I noted everything I observed, drawings of how Double Ducks work and Prestrafe curves for a higher speed etc. etc. lol. It was so much fun and very exciting. I dreamed about jumping 256 and do certain trickjumps that always fascinated me. Unfortunately my skills weren't that amazing and 250 block was the highest I could reach. Maybe because I first started in my 20's or I'm just slow, I don't know. It bothered me for a long time, but then I somehow accepted it and could still enjoy the game.
This didn't prevent me from being fascinated about uber skilled players though. There are some videos I still watch every now and then that inspire me with their incredible tricks and awesome movie editing, such as FoF <32/DiscoverY, shNz Chill 4 You, IceVIP Ich bin bail, Brian Movie Part 2
It was a very cool time playing Kreedz and being active here, therefore it feels kind of odd to slowly losing my relation to this scene. It has brought me so much. I got into Drum and Bass and Dubstep music by this forum too. A genre I love very much.
I will probably become a silent lurker on this forum before I finally retire lol.

i don't really feel like writing a lot about me but i must say i can relate to almost everything you've said and experienced within this game. cs 1.6 is pretty much the only videogame i've played the last +10 years or so. anyway, thanks for sharing swissbro.
No problem man! I got the end :) Yeah I also founded out that this game is a perfect adviser how to succeed in your real life. Those 2 that you mention and the other one that u mention later: FUCK THE SYSTEM. The first two were talk to me by my parents, teachers, friends but they never got to me but this game did. I quit playing the game almost total. Simply because I got no time and I started to realize that I'm loosing so much time that I could spend with my familia and friends. I visit XJ since 2008 and somehow when I go to web browser I open this page with other like facebook etc. to check out whats going on. It's like 6-7 years while I do that and about year since I left gaming. It just got into my blood I guess :D Somehow I feel like I owe something to this mod and I'm trying to pay it back how I can. MVM, helping a kz clan, and being an active member to push thing forward and make site alive.

Hello jack. This is indeed a very nice topic and I enjoyed reading everything you wrote. I've been more active playing KZ and HNS some years ago, now I still play sometimes but nothing that can catch me for some long hours like it did before and I know I do this 'cause I still got a lot of free time in my life. I'm going to a university now but 'cause of some problems classes will only start in end of april so until there I've almost no responsibility at all and tons of free time to play games including cs but I already see my self in your spot, when I start to study and move to a new house and so many other things. The interesting is that I also know that even if I dont even play the game anymore I will stil visit this community everyday to see how things are going, like you do and so many other. It's so nice when I see people that created his account on XJ in like 05,06 and after so many years without visting this website, they log in just to say hey and see things, it proves how much this community was/is valuable to user's lifes. :)

i started playing kreedz since the end of 2011, when I was 28 years old.
now i am 31. :(
the most regret thing is knowing the game too late. I miss the most brilliant time of the game
10/03/2015 12:35While I was reading this, I got a feeling of nostalgia combined with sadness. Nostalgia because of the great times, sadness because all of this will vanish at some point. I really would have loved to start XJ in 2006, because at that time I didnt know any community existed.
I used to play on a certain server in 2006 with quite a few people and there was this command (say /boost) which helped you and a friend climb maps together. Basicly it was like today's default "walk thru eachother" setting, but /boost enabled you to ... well, boost with another player that typed the same command. Thats how we managed to finish maps which now are easy.
Then I remember that in 2008 I got myself a notebook just to fill it with ideas of hns maps. Thats how I started making kreedz maps too, based on the same principle. Moviemaking was something I only wanted to try, since I loved mapping. Now its different, cuz I really want to transform this hobby (moviemaking) into a lifetime job + I hate mapping now.
I'm glad I managed to be there when jumping, mapping and moviemaking achieved an astonishing level, blowing everyone's mind.
Still, I'm feeling like this thread is a "farewell" kreedz-type, altho I know I'm wrong and most of us just want to say how it changed our "life".

I don't feel like writing a lot on this thread but since I've been playing CS 1.6 for almost 10 years (started on 1.5 meh) and since most of my biggest fans from the Kreedz scene have already replied here, Im in a way obligated to reply to this thread.
Like you Jack, I like this community, and I surely know this community loves me back since I got unbanned ( Hi ShoCk & g-Lp !) with some others a couple of months back. Anyways, I feel it is my sworn duty to share my view of this rather cool community that is XJ.
I've been a pro at gaming since I started WoW back in 2005 and when I naturally discovered Kreedz 4 years later, it became obvious I would be a pro here too, which I am (240 block 100% legit ya know).
I made a lot of friends here (the only ones in my life sadly), and I feel grateful to this community and people for finally being a grown up man.
On a more serious note, I'm about to finish my masters degree in a couple of months and I probably won't be as active in the future like you Jack. So, I'd like to say thanks in advance to everyone (yes even you ShoCky) for all those good moments here at XJ and in game on this cool mode that is Kreedz.

I never really cared for this mode, this is goddamn video game why should i bother myself in something that has no meaning in my life ? To brag around how i beat maps and some meaningless records ? Nah i will pass that. Anyway, i made lot of friends around. Well, truth to be told, i'm barely speaking to any of 'em except maybe few of 'em but our conversation aren't about gaming or kz anymore. Some of 'em i want to meet irl and i'm looking to achieve that goal. I'm glad i've seen cs in edition most of people will not see, you simply see how mapping has evolved throughout kz...
