Welcome in my thread which will touch a topic of national communities.

I was just thinking today how to make a community grow and I had little flashback in my mind.

I remember the time when I get start play at my local (Polish) servers and I was asking guys there about things related to kreedz as almost everyone of us. One guy wazi later known as LIQUID told me that there are two sites with all records, tutorials etc. KZPL a polish one and XJ worldwide community, of course the first one site I visited was KZPL because it was in my first/home language. I saw there people competing with each other but I don't have to talk about it because were are on XJ and every one seen it - nothing to explain. I was checking out the site and I was truly amazed by kreedz, coz before visiting that site I thought kreedz mod refers only to completing the map, I never was so wrong in my life. When I saw "jumping movies", variety of techniques, 2man, rb... It blown my mind. I was thinking there is nothing that can surprise me in CS. I was wrong again... On the next day I joined the server again, I knew mors stuff - was in love with this mod after it surprised me that much and I asked myself. If this guys can compete why cant I ? I just need to gain more information, do some research and start training to catch up to those guys. There was a problem no one were willing to explain all the stuff and my national kreedz site didn't have tutorials etc. That's how I end up here on XJ.

Now let's get to conclusion of this story.

Main purpose of this post is showing how national communities are important in case of worldwide kreedz community grow. In these days there are just few national communities and most active members are a part of them e.g. Argentina. Most of new comers here at XJ come from the countries that had a national kreedz site. It's because kreedz mod is promoted in those countries by national sites.

Simple saying local promotion/advertising will lead to world wide community grow.

Not every country has a national community. Not every country has a stuff to make one. But for sure there is lots of players that would like to have their own national community and compete national.

Shouldn't then Administration of XJ help to build them? Train chosen people in demo checking, arrange domain and website from the donation that they receive. I understand the fact that guys do their job non-profit, might not have time but they CAN do something nice for others.

For example:
KZ-SCA will soon die because of no demo-checker.

30 bucks is the price of a domain + hosting for a year for a small community. That 30 bucks were given for the Cup, where money should not be included, it's about a pure rival. Isn't it enough that someone was nr 1 and achieved VIP? He was a best one?

For those 30 bucks a new community could be created. Not only two people will have profits but many and who knows maybe even more in the future.

XJ is going in the wrong way.

KZFR died since spe6men became admin tbh.

^kz-sca too coz he left demochecking.

This is why I think national communites should come from XJ and be fully at their rights. So it can be passed if some CEO will vanished or smth.

I believe you're letting out a real important issue here, and that is cheating. I don't think the checking tools will be handed to leaders of national communities due to lack of trust, and if that happens, then there will be cheaters in every community and jumpers will get tired of trying to beat cheaters on maps...

^ Train chosen people in demo checking. When training is finished XJ choose a community for each trainee. If trainee isn't sure he just pass it to DEMO ADMIN here at XJ.

Interesting proposal SzczupaK. I am the current administrator of KZ-Argentina. 6 months ago we returned, after a period of time without website.

I really wanted to reopen the page to see new players. Learning, competing, improving their skills and above all, enjoying the game... like as I started, 8 years ago.

Currently our national community goes "on wheels":
We replaced our old and tedious system by a new one, which helps a lot when making releases.
Demochecking, a topic that I always liked, motivated by one of my old passions, computer security. Years learning how to detect cheaters, fortunately in recent times I was lucky that fame teached me a little, at least all I need to know to detect a lot of cheats. Experience helps a lot on this issue, as more demos you've seen and when you understand better the game mechanics, is easier to detect them. So in my opinion, the democheckers always must be players with experience, or otherwise, must be well trained. And yeah, about the demochecking tools, must always be in good hands.

In my opinion XJ is not going in a bad way, just need a better organization and more concrete ideas.

^ I meant that it's better to spend those 30 bucks for hosting and website for one year and will give such profits like longer existence of this mod, more users and more activity during that one year and yes I also think that experience and training is a must in the cheaters case, but I also think that if someone would like to cheat he would cheat in national site than XJ to check if he can be detected = less cheaters on XJ. What happen if Fame would I don't know... disappear for example, Kayne will be checking demos again ? HIHI. Will it be better to train few people than take back demo checker that accepted so many cheated demos? What you think?

It's nice that you can gain something in real life and have fun at once while playing, but there are some priorities that must done.

bkz dead

Wanna say thanks to spr1n, that kz-baltic is still alive and bring new ideas to the community. Yeah every community is now dead almost, and you can't do anything with it imo.

^ This is why I think all national communities should come from XJ and be supervised by XJ. If Head Admin doesn't do his role he should be changed by XJ also this refers to other admin department. I mean demo admins etc.

Do you imagine how difficult it will be to find responsible people which will lead national communities? Sometimes it's a problem to find such people even for community like XJ, and are example of this.

Plus, due the lack of activity not all countries need to have their own national community. For example, russian-speaking community unique-kz. Since nor Ukraine nor Belarus have their own communities, it's the only one place where players from these countries can send their demos. For last 3 months there were uploaded only 2 demos and both of them are from Russian player. There is a lot of examples of half-dead communities which almost don't have any activity nor from admin side nor from users.

I agree that there is also communities which have kinda good activity (KZ-Arg, KZRU etc.), but there is not much of them and I'm already help them with demochecking stuff. I have no idea which kind of help they else need.

It's not necessary to teach anyone how to check demos. If there is people who really interested in being on demo admin position, they can easily find enough information about it and learn everything on their own. I doubt that there is such people tho. Look at KZ-Scandinavia, previous demo admins led its records list to the horrible situation, there is even cheated demos from legendary in their top.

Imo, if there is responsible people who want to open their national community - they will do it with or without anyone's help.
