With mouse acceleration OFF, the movement of the mouse and the movement of the crosshair will be 1 to 1. With mouse acceleration ON, the movement is based on speed. Meaning, if you move the mouse 1 inch, slowly, it'll move "one inch" on the screen. If you move it still 1 inch, but fast, it'll move further depending on how high you set your mouse acceleration.

A setting of 1 will have a small effect where if you set acceleration to 10, it may make you do a 360 when slightly flick the mouse quickly.

Hope this helps.

Edit - Mis typed a word.

Most players prefer no mouse acceleration which would be a setting of 0. This allows for the most control because there is no difference between your mouse movements and on screen or in game movements.

If a player has used mouse acceleration their entire life, turning it off will feel wrong, but with practice may allow them to develop more precise movements.
