KZmod longjumping + CONTEST
Hi!
Longjumping in kz_longjumps2 was one of the things I did a lot in my 1.6 KZ times. After an hour or two of geeking it might've got boring but I still went back again and again to beat my records and improve my technique.
I recently made a comeback to gaming and started playing KZmod. I see nothing has changed, because soon enough my map choice was kz_longjumps, the longjumping map of KZmod. In this map, there're longjump races with timers, regular LJ blocks, (double)countjump blocks, an AXN mini route and then some AXN "bhop" blocks for bhop mode speedsters. You can find longjump areas in several other KZmod maps as well, for example kz_fofmania has a great longjumping section!
Longjumping still feels the same as it did in the old times! If you haven't tried the new KZmod 2.0 yet, I can guarantee that the movement is almost identical to 1.6.
tl;dr Post your best stats and performed blocks in this thread!I want to encourage people to try longjumping by opening a contest:
Mission: Jump the best block you can get and submit the demo in this thread!
Techniques: Regular longjump, countjump, double/multicountjump, bhop longjump in a LJ block (not AXN).
Prize: A longjump movie edited by me, including the best blocks from every category! I will submit it for a XJ front page release as well.
Rules: This contest is subject to KZmod World Record Recording Rules (clauses that affect jumping) with a tweak: LJ stats must be activated.
Deadline: The last day to submit demos is Sunday 6th of September 2015.

FAQ:
Q: How to activate LJ stats?
A: Longjump stats are included in KZmod by default under the name Stats Readout. At first, you have to earn a medal by completing a map for example kz_longjumps[lj_race_1]. The KZMOD shop will automatically pop up, if not, press "B" to open it. Now you can spend the earned medal by unlocking Stats Readout. You have to activate Stats Readout by typing /lj in chat or from KZMOD shop everytime you want to see the stats. The LJ stats currently present you your Jump Distance, Maxspeed, Prestrafe and Bhop/Duck count. Failed jump distance isn't yet accurate.
Q: How to make a recording bind for a single jump per demo?
A: Write in console: bind button1 "teleport;wait;stop;wait;record ljdemo" <-- replace "button1" with your preference, such as "mouse4". To set a checkpoint, bind a button of your choice by writing in console: bind button2 checkpoint
In advanced options (via ESC-menu), you can disable sound effects and chat notifications related to setting checkpoints and teleporting to them.
Q: How to perform a longjump?
A: There are useful tutorials from 1.6 kz times that are valid in KZmod longjumping as well. Check out the Tutorials-playlist by Xtreme-Jumps.eu on YouTube.
Feel free to discuss KZmod longjumping here and post your best stats in addition to completed blocks that take part in contest. :)
I've done 249 block and 253 stats this far, but I want the 250 block in order to post it here!!
nice idea! won't be uploading doe, i'm bad for ljs hehe
253 is the best block I've done so far: https://www.dropbox.com/s/s34b58mcy7hep7q/253_lj_FAME.dem?dl=0
This is the first time I tried longjumping in KZmod and considering the fact I'm really bad at prestrafing in 1.6, each my 5th jump was with 277.xxx prestrafe. Even with that big prestrafe it feels harder to jump than in 1.6.
Good job FAME! That's our unofficial WR for now.
After 20-30 hours of longjumping getting to the highest prestrafes (276-277.xxx) truly feels a bit easier than in 1.6. But still my average has been around 273-274. I got the 253,6 stats with 273 pre and I felt the strafes were very well synced.
But after all the distances feel pretty much the same, even better than I ever had in 1.6. These 250s weren't common for me back in the days. IceVip said something about that his kind of fast strafes (9-11) wouldn't work (sync) that well in KZmod as they did in 1.6.
is there truly difference between bj and sbj in kz mod (distance?)

Yes, standup bhop boosts you just like in 1.6, so it gives you an advantage in bhop longjumping as well.
the blocks in longjump on kzmod are to low and the 255 and 256 block legal ? its at the end only and you have surf and kz think on but i think its only step stop off no different in jumping but in the 252 to 254 you have it not ?
ah have fixt it dont know how
https://www.sendspace.com/file/1gvsit there u go 256 lj :)

Maybe it's too early for longjumping :-)
I'm going to make a movie of 256 block by noxeR.
Feel free to submit your best longjumps, I might be interested in editing them! From now on, general discussion about KZmod longjumping in this thread.
Why there is no ljtop like 1.6 have?

This is the first step in KZmod longjumping and that might be added later on. The main goal now is to make people find this awesome game and play it! There're so much to it, that longjumping is just a small part of the big package. But people interested in longjumping, it all starts here.
Feel free to post your best longjumps and I'll keep the list up to date.
// updated first post
