Hi everyone,

recently we (with a friend of mine called Immortal) decided to explore some secrets about longjumping and overall its stats.
If you still dont understand what im talking about its stuff like: prestrafe + gain = maxspeed, each strafe's gain = main gain and etc.

So.. firstly i'd like to talk and share some interesting stats, make a theory and at the same time ask a question.. my friend will add other stuff later about sync and speed loss... you could say that we made at the same time some facts and theories.. but even if this is already known it would be fun for other people to read!

in the lj thread here from a guy called nicojihad.. he said is 10aa OK.
Ive seen similar stats (246) with 2 strafes only in the past so i assume its not hack nor bug.
Ok then.. i tried to make the same stats and after a lot of tries i make the perfect stats and this SHOULD be better than this..

LJ Distance: 243.295089 Maxspeed: 312.657928 (37.486) Prestrafe: 275.171630 Strafes: 2 Sync: 91
1 18.753 0.000 26.1 93
2 18.732 0.691 73.8 90

So.. 243 stats not even close to his 246 but wait... Lets compare both stats shall we?

First my maxspeed is better than his: 312.6 - 296.5
My gain is better than his: 37 - 21
My prestrafe is better than his: 275.1 - 274.9
My sync is better than his: 91 - 83
And even my airtime is THE SAME as his - 1st strafe 26.1 second strafe 73.8 (SAME airtime just like his stats!)
Also.. my speed loss is less than his... 0.691 - 1.529
BUT in the end.. even with all these superior factors MY distance is 243 and his is 246...
Is this a bug? I guess no because i saw other similar stats and again most of my factors were better than their own...
So here i have a question and at the same time theory on this...

First off - I guess LJstats doesnt show everything that we need... i mean maybe there is another principal factor thats not shown.. maybe the WAY of doing the strafe or the trajectory.. I dont know what is it but have big hopes that indeed there is a bigger factor...

If not here comes the question to you guys ofc if you know - If there's not such a factor then tell me why his stats its better than my own? (excluding the possibility of bug)

So thats for now.. i hope we'll have great discussion about this.. my friend will post later more interesting facts about sync and airtime.

Hi, everyone! Sorry for being a bit late. Now I'm going to explain some things about sync and airtime.

The average sync is rarely calculated like "(Sync of 1st strafe+Sync of 2nd strafe+...+Sync of n strafe) / n". This is because of the airtime of each strafe. When we jump, we do some strafes longer than others. Look at the following example: http://imgur.com/c87tHpn

The average sync on this LJ should be (87+95)/2=91%, but as you see, it's 94%. But why is it 94 %? The reason is the airtime of the strafes. You can see that the 1st strafe has 7,7 % airtime, while the 2nd one has 92,2 %. This means that the average sync is closer to the sync of the strafe that is longer (=that has bigger airtime %). Here is the formula for calculating the average sync:

(Airtime of 1st strafe * sync of 1st strafe + Airtime of 2nd strafe * sync of 2nd strafe + ... + Airtime of n-th strafe * sync of n-th strafe). Let's try it: (7,7*87 + 92,2*95)/100 (1% = 1/100, this is the reason why we devide on 100). If you calculate it right, you'll get 94,289. That, of course, is not the sync you see on the picture, but as you know, it can't show 94,289, so it only shows 94 %. The airtime depends on the sync and the sync depends on the airtime. This is the reason why the formula uses both airtime and sync.

Let's give another example. If you do a LJ with 2 strafes (1st strafe - 50 sync, 2nd strafe - 100 sync) and each strafe is 50 % airtime, that means the average sync will be 75 % (because the strafes are, in some ways, equal). You just do this: (100+50)/2 and you get the average sync.

There's one more example with 7 strafes. I actually forgot to tell you that the number of strafes doesn't change anything and you'll see it's true: http://i.imgur.com/GibfKwF.jpg
Let's use the formula again. There's a bit more to calculate, but it's not a problem. As you see, the average sync is 74 %. Let's see what we get from the formula:

(19,4*76 + 15,2*100 + 15,2*80 + 15,3*72 + 12,4*85 + 12,5*55 + 9,7*33)/100 = 73,736 and the formula strikes again... But if we try to get the average sync like (76+100+80+72+85+55+33)/7, we get 71,571 which in fact is not the true average sync.

All in all, when all the strafes have the same airtime, then we can calculate the average sync by (1st strafe + 2nd strafe + ... + n-th strafe)/n. But when we have different airtime for each strafe, we can't calculate it like that and we have to use the formula I gave.

By the way, it's the same with every jump you know - CJ, DCJ, MCJ, HJ, BHOP LJ, etc...

Lets think 2 strafe LJ is like an "S", if you gain more speed means you move more to right or left, so the "S" format became more wide and you lose distance, thats why the distance cant be measure only by numbers

PS.: You could gain more distance with better duck on the end of your jump too =)

im playing 4 years kz.. im sure that im not that bad when i duck to have 3 units difference.. i understand 0.5 or 1 but 3..
But we have the same way of thinking.. the way we are strafing is a key too.

There isnt a conspiracy with your stats man, just saying that if you open more your strafes to get "gain" you will lose distance.

Thats why players that are on lj top5 do 7+ strafes, and lj hacks do infinite strafes to go further

nerv is exacly right imo. We can gain big speed while do Wide strafes but 'S 'cant go further than 'l '. And one more important thing is how fast move your mouse. Speed gaining / second is limited. So you have to move your mouse as fast as almost close to the limit

well nerv actually said what i stated in my first post (under the form of theory) but w/e

Well the "hidden factor" that makes his jump so good is the current. He has way less gain on his last strafe therefore equalizing his strafe trajectory way more efficiently then u did with the 18 gain on your last strafe. It can work miracles. Speed ain't everything and neither is airtime it's most important that your trajectory ends up as it should be ending therefore gaining a lot more units. Sync maxspeed is pretty much irrelevant specially in these 2,3,4,5 strafes jumps. Although the sync formula might be good it proves nothing really I never relied on sync as a stat unless I'm failing too much on one strafe. Write /beam for better understanding of what I'm talking and if you can compare your beam with his beam you will see one big difference.

Theory? This doesn't even sound like a hypothesis.
