The transition
Hello guys, I wanted to make this post to hear your thoughts about KZ regular and KZmod.
First of all I want to start out by saying, that I am no longer a regular player in either kzmod or regular, but I'm an everyday user of this site and always look forward to new stuff on the frontpage, whether it's KZmod or regular, both seems to work in the excact same way, which leads me to why I made this thread. I am very interested in hearing _your_ thoughts about the future of KZ and where you feel it should head to. As I said before I'm only visiting the site to check the frontpage, and I must say I can no longer spot the difference between regular and mod (besides the graphic apperance). It seems to me like SF and the crew have actually done the impossible and we now have an optimized, lone standing game that don't need any other applications or keys to run it. Loads of praise to these guys for doing the impossible, I mean the shear strenght and passion of this community is on full display now, where we (You know who) have actually done what seems incomprehensible for us mortals to do.
I look at the frontpage, and I see the regular KZ releases getting more and more "skinny" with almost only new maps to beat for the frontrunners of the top5 and especiaily for new recordholders. Then I look at KZmod, and it completely reminds me of when XJ started and we had these gigantic releases with most of our favourite maps being beaten over and over again. As an outsider this seems like the break that regular KZ has been wanting for the last 2-3 years. Here we have a new game, completely the same as the regular, but with so much new stuff to figure out, I mean just look at the releases, it's a party and we're missing out by being divided and indecisive in our attitude to which game we should play.
Take a look at history, look at soulfather, If you're new to this site I can tell you that he has (and his crew) been up against all the odds for so many years. I remember when the first betarelease came out and people was complaining about so many bugs in the game. The grand premiere turned out to be a big fail - And don't even get me started on the support, because as a regular reader, I've seen how people have been treating this whole idea of a "replacement", it wasn't pretty, and most guys would probably have folded, like what, 5 times?
This post is made because I simply want to know your feelings towards a possible switch from the regular CS 1.6 mod to the new advanced and optimized made-for-jumping game. Do you think that a transition and an acceptance of that transition is possible/needed?
I understand that it's not something that you just do, especially as a community. We've had over 10 years of fantastic regular KZ and we've kinda exhausted some maps, even though everything is beatable, I can feel the frustration amoung jumpers when I read the forums, regular KZ is struggling to find new players and here we are now, maybe with the answer lying right in front of our faces. I want you to consider the possible outcome of this transition, both good and bad. I'm not saying abandon ship, I'm only encouraging you to consider the future of the game.
KZMod climbing differs from 1.6 regardless of the remarkable resemblance and it's not a bad thing, someone would favour one over another, it's pretty much a matter of taste but personally I feel like 1.6 fits me better because of the feel of accomplishment when you make a record. Not because KZMod's records flounder but because of facilitated bhop in KZMod. Moreover, I have this observation that I'm always stuck around with the old games and not moving forward.
Personally, I've stopped watching 1.6 records long time ago, it's a very rare case a record would make me want to watch it and don't I need to mention KZMod. I would love to see KZMod grow just because it's a part of something that has been a big part of my life for so long but in terms of the role I see myself in as a community member, I would most likely remain as a silent spectator and would only open the game to watch surf records or even play them surf maps sometimes.
In short, I think KZmod is the only possible future for competitive climbing and existence of XJ.
No matter what, 1.6 is a slowly dying game and 1.6 kreedzing goes with it. Sad but true. I opened my eyes, tried KZmod and liked it a lot. I believe in the product and that's the main reason why I started putting in time and effort to the scene again.
Of course KZmod's movement differs a bit from 1.6 movement. But it's not in any bad way. Some things are different and that's fine for me. Things change, gotta adapt. A few hours, maybe days, and it felt like home.
Like I stated on the front page, it brings back the joy of climbing, just in an updated, modern environment. A standalone game running on a more recent engine is exactly what kreedzing needs.
Kreedz is not about game-the engine. Its about comepetition that havent been changing for years and got bored. New cute look will not change the popularity of it or development of it.

What about bungee, powerjump, flares course .. to name a few? + There are undiscovered mapping areas that can and will bring something new to the table in the near future.
^its just addon not game itself but I agree with mapping part.
Im still waiting when KZMOD will have HNS mod that we are playing in 1.6, not the one they had when 2.0 came out.
