Map downloading on Linux
I am administrating a KZ server that is hosted on linux. Most of the players are beginners, they don't know how to download maps. Some maps like kz_kzfr_mariocastle and kz_summercliff2 have sound files that have a space in their name, those files aren't transmited to the players and they can't join the server. Is there a way around it?
strange, hlds was originally designed to run on linux and such things should never happen.
That could be .RES file issue. replace all spaces with "\ " w/o quotes, or include the whole file name specified in .res file in quotes.
If thats not the source of the problem then you should probably gonna need to configure your fastdownload fileserver to recognize spaces.
I tried every combination plus reloading map and restarting the server, it doesn't work, and google doesn't have much to say regarding this. Also tried on a different server which is also on linux. Can you try it if you have the possibility: kz_summercliff on the server then on the client rename "sound/summercliff2/cave humide avec vent.wav" to see if it is downloaded from the server.
I can't get summercliff2 to work either...
At first i got error, something like: failed to transmit cave humide avec vent , but everything separate... like:
failed to transmit cave
failed to transmit humide
failed to transmit avec
failed to transmit vent
And that's supposed to be one file...
Now, i don't know how this exactly works, but i tried changing name of the file to just "cave", in res also, still doesn't work...
Generated .res file over 17buddies site...because original one had some non existent wad's and sprites ...
I really want a solution for this one, this is not the first time i encountered this...
