shxKh's volcanobhop wtf?!

Coming here quickly after watching shxKh's run on volcanobhop that makes much wonders I want to know how on earth was he faster than noxeR having missed 2 (TWO!) skips?! If someone willing to make a battle movie (that practically don't make much help anyway) that would be welcome but I would rather see an explanation from someone experienced with game's engine. And don't tell me it's about standups's, there's been tons of them in shxKh's run.

He have always beated my demos from back in the days when he was new so i wondered if he was clean, but somehow he kept on beating these super hard maps all the time so i was like "huh ok, maybe he just so much better than me" so i accepted it. His a monster anyways if his clean! =)

FAME21/06/2016 20:44

Sorry but the answer is stand-ups. noxeR has 95 stand-ups in his demo while shxKh has only 64.

Just saw a demo. Now there's this strange smell of a fish inside my room.

Your correct! I checked it again. Damn his so good. Its inhuman bhops =)

shxKh21/06/2016 20:53

fame the best :DD,btw ,how can i check how many stand-ups i used in a demo?i think it can be checked by some software but i dont know how,sorry i am new About demochecking = =

Do you have an accurate calulation for standup and non-standup bhops?

FAME21/06/2016 22:59

Dunno what you mean but all what I've done is counted those stand-ups manually.

So just by watching it you've been counting them?

FAME21/06/2016 23:14

Not by watching demo of course, in demochecking tool.

Airtime frame for standup and non-standup bhops.

jumps with duck lines above is stand-ups.

The standups really make a difference, 31 more standups in such a short run - a gamechanger. If I don't have work tomorrow, I could do a battle run video :-)

FAME22/06/2016 00:10

Well... The formula for a jump airtime is:

airtime = (vertical_accel + sqrt(vertical_accel^2 - 4 * 0.5 * 800 * (-18))) / (2 * 0.5 * 800)

And the formula for vertical acceleration:

vertical_accel = sqrt(2 * 800 * 45)

Then, if 'fuser2' value is > 0 engine does following calculation:

vertical_accel *= (100.0 - fuser2 * 0.001 * 19.0) * 0.01

fuser2 is a jump modificator that makes us slow down after performing a jump. After a jump, engine sets it to 1315.789428 and each frame afterwards it decreases it's value by current 'msec' value. If your FPS is 100 then your msec is 10, this mean that to completely get rid of slow down effect you need to wait 1.315 seconds. After this time, we can make full-height jump which will last for (268.32815 + sqrt(268.32815^2 - 4 * 0.5 * 800 * (-18))) / (2 * 0.5 * 800) = 0.73227 seconds.

0.73227 = 73 frames, at this point 'fuser2' is 1315.789428 - 73 * 10 = 585.789428. If we immediately do another jump (stand-up bhop to be correct), it will last for (238.46323 + sqrt(238.46323^2 - 4 * 0.5 * 800 * (-18))) / (2 * 0.5 * 800) = 0.66393 seconds.

To do the same for regular bhops simply don't do multiplication by (-18) in the calculations. That's it.
