Jump;wait?

Hey guys, a newbie here.
So i recently started playing bhop maps (100aa) and i like a casual bhop in the evening. I've heard people like to use +jump;wait bind on their mousewheel stating that it's "easier". I tried it and i simply didin't notice one bit of a difference in my bhops. Maybe someone could explain how exactly it's beneficial to use +jump;wait instead of just +jump?

Also, i know this community is against cheating/scripting at all costs, but im just trying to gather info to my private use, but i'll ask anyway - are there any binds/tricks that would make my bhop significantly better? I like to sit down and just bhop, but recently my timings have gone really bad, my fingers just dont listen and release ctrl when i want and need to do a standup thus messing up my whole rhythm.

Game engine won't allow you to perform a jump if you already have +jump in previous frame. So in the following situation you will fail your bhop:

Frame    State             Commands
120         In air            +jump;-jump (this is how jumps made on scroll look like)
121         On ground    +jump;-jump

That +jump;wait script inserts "wait" command between each jump scroll thus forces engine to wait 1 frame before sending another jump scroll so your scroll distribution will look like this:

Frame    Commands
253        +jump
254        -jump
255        +jump
256        -jump
257        +jump
258        -jump
259        +jump
260        -jump

Having +jump in each 2nd frame is what I call 'ideal distribution', with it you will maximum get 2 frames on ground and lose as less speed as possible. FYI, shNz has something like 10 bhops with 3 frames on ground in his bkz_goldbhop record, though he was lucky to get them on places where he didn't really need to have good speed.

So in other words with +jump;wait script you don't need to control your scrolling speed, just scroll as fast as you can and you will never get big slowdowns.

This thread will help you to understand how bhop works much better http://xtreme-jumps.eu/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?363816.post

Thanks FAME, i understand it now. May i ask you what map could you recommend to get the feeling of correct timing particularly on stand-up bhops?

FAME06/02/2017 20:06

I have only notkz_standupz_remake on my mind, but you probably should try to search, I bet there were a lot of threads regarding this question.

Very interesting, I had no idea about this.
I have:
bind "MWHEELDOWN" "+jump"
bind "MWHEELUP" "+duck"
bind "MOUSE1" "+jump"
bind "MOUSE2" "+duck"

Does this mean I should add a wait to all of them or just to +jump ones?

FAME06/02/2017 20:26

You don't need to add it anywhere because "+jump;wait" bind is considered as illegal.

SadPuppy mapper06/02/2017 20:31

Oh...ok. Thanks for all the info! I'll just leave it alone then, doubt it would have helped me much anyway =)

Wait, so if shNz had about 10 bhops with 3 FOG, with ;wait those bhops would've been 2 FOG or in other words ideal bhops?

Tried the map you suggested and i definitely felt a difference there, it was if i didin't even need to try timing my stand-ups, not really fun knowing im being assisted hehe.

But then the same should apply to groundstrafing shouldn't it? If you execute a duck command too early you ruin your speed instantly, with a ;wait attached you can do it easier probably.

Fiveshot07/02/2017 13:24

Fame gave you example for perfect distribution and what is failed bhop, shnz didn't use that bind cuz its illegal.

dmnyksas07/02/2017 13:48(edited 07/02/2017 13:50)

Yeah i understood what he said that's why i stated that IF shNz would've used that bind his bhop would've been ideal based on the information fame provided.

3 FOG<2 FOG so if you execute a wait command when there should've been a 3 FOG bhop, it sums up to (3-1 frames on ground) 2 FOG. Now i get why it's illegal.

Fiveshot07/02/2017 14:02

Yes with that bind your jumps would be 1-2 fog only

This is a little offtopic but i don't feel like creating a new thread. Since i play 100aa and sometimes feel like playing HNS, i noticed that sometimes when i do an after jump bhop i don't loose speed.

For example my speed dropped to 270 then i quickly ducked and jumped with 290+ pre, could that mean that it's possible to use count bhops (?) and get from point A to point B faster compared to simple bhops/stand-ups on a flat surface?

FAME07/02/2017 19:31

gstrafe > gstrafe + bhop > bhop

It all depends on how good you are. If you are capable of doing gstrafe without losing much speed you should definitely try to mix it with bhop. With perfect gstrafe you lose only ~4% of speed each time you hit a ground comparing to instantaneous reduce of speed to 240 and/or lose of 50 units per second each frame you spend on ground during bhop.

Here are some illegal demos I recorded for this comparison: https://www.sendspace.com/file/x2u4zx

Yeah i definitely see a difference. I've played 100aa HNS for 4 years and your groundstrafing, bhops are much better than mine so im bowing my head to all of you 10aa players for just being beyond skilled.

The funny thing i noticed in that map is that for some reason my monitor has like a blurry line across the screen which moves upwards the faster im going.

Since we are talking about kz science ill use this opportunity.

Whats the max water strafe speed? I can easily keep up with 400 speed all the time. But now and then I use to have good strafes and raise up to 430-440 even once to 450 just to go back to around 400 speed where im capable of maintaining it.

And what about gs? Whats the max speed? Ive heard its 400 and you cant pass through this limit. Is this true? On 10aa ive seen somewhat like a record 361 speed from 1 place, i myself reached once 330 and it eas followed by second duck with 339. Whats the max possible speed there?

And in the end sgs 10aa. I managed to do 3 consecutive sgs ducks all the while increasing the speed one after another. From 270 - 272 to 280 more or less. Is this shattering the myth about sgs being impossible on 10aa? Scj have already been proven by doing 270 and 271 stats and seeing 297 pre ...
