Valve Hammer Editor + Addons help
Hey hello!
Is there any gentlemen/madamme out there that could help an old mapper like me to install VHE + everything thats needed for mapping nowdays?
I remember it was really complicated back in the days and I think I actually never finished it and got crashes here and there everytime i compiled a map etc.
Thank you!
Best regards, Sitka

All these are so outdated so the files in the tutorials cant be downloaded. Thats why I asked for someone to help me, maybe a mapper I dont know :) I can ofcourse google for all the tutorials my self but I havnt found anyone where their "all files you need" works.

Well i have no problem paying for it :) I just want to know if you can do the same things with that as VHE.
Well you can check the set of tutorials I've made, starting from setting up VHE:

The first tutorials are way too long, sorry for that. Was just learning how to make them :D Also my friend Stojke set up this page long ago where you can find almost everything you need for mapping:

Yes and alot more
Well in the end, you can use the HLSDK on Steam which is only hammer, modelling stuff and the QTools.
Hammer is the old 3.4 version, if you need model support in 3d view you have to use the 3.5beta version.
Otherwise use the clones like JackHammer and co.
For Compiler Tools: ZHLT, SHLT or VHLT.
If you want to be experimental use VHLT can be found in the svencoop forums.
If you want to have stable tools without experimental functions use SHLT but they are from the features outdated and not updated anymore like ZHLT.
What about http://sledge-editor.com/ , any thoughts on that one, is it viable?
i had lots of texturing bugs and performance issues in sledge.. might be fixed now (havent tryed it like last 2 years)
For Sledge, since the last open release was 2014 3years ago. You have to compile it yourself. To have all included fixes in it.
Hammer 3.5 and ZHLT @Sitka.
Best choice
Hammer 3.5 most stable
JACK has some nice features, but also some small bugs that can be annoying.
I tried Sledge when it was released, but it crashed a lot back then. I see they improved now, so i'll give it a try again, seems they added a lot of interesting things to it.
