This idea popped out when i was playing in KZMOD and was thinking about the CUP, i thought okay what else can be a challenge for players that can be displayed in top list?

I am not certainly sure how this will work, i am sure its possible though! let me explain,

lets say we play bkz_goldbhop (CUP or Normal run) at the end of the map.. when you click FINISH it should display how many times you failed (felt a bhop part/ a part that teleports you BACK) this will work mostly on bhop/surf/slide maps i guess due the map teleport entities. One thing im confused with is there are also normal teleport triggers that move you to other rooms etc, and those should be ignored (maybe make the plugin focus on teleports that are surrounded by bhop parts (maybe just for CUPS?)

So yeah post your ideas etc and maybe we can make something like this happen cuz nowdays it would be nice to know if you fail too much etc =D no idea if this can f... up the toplist system / wr etc... it could but it can also improve imo too.

cheers

You could always implement it in a map itself..?

I think possible by using game_counters. Only on LAN though for obvious reasons. The hard part is creating a display that shows the number of fails since it would require some complex point entity work, 10 numbered textures and a lot of func_wall_toggles. Another issue would be the number of entities due to the 512 limit, especially on bigger maps.

Cool, yes, but efficient, no. Would be better to code it into a plugin. The problem with that however is, that you'd need to somehow differentiate between the teleports in bhop/climb parts and the possible teleport SC's or transitions. I don't know much about code but it seems it'd have to be done individually for each map with SC's or transitions by identifying the names of the excluded ones and making expections for them.
