Can you help me to improve my groundstrafing?
Hello there :)
I know there are alot of threads like this and believe me I read most of them, but I still don't fully understand how that technique works. Can you please give me some advice on how to improve my groundstrafing or tell me what's wrong the way I'm doing it? Not wanna become an uber pro but sometimes when I play on the weekend I'm practicing it and it's fun when I jump from higher platforms.
I got the rhythm right so far (I think!). I press the keys slightly before I duck and move the mouse. Also I'm constantly moving which is cool, but I barely reach 200 u/s when I start from ground.

My settings: mwheeldown + duck
Someone told me I need to scroll faster, but it always ended in a cluster fuck. I tried binding mwheelup+duck and mwheeldown+duck, but it didn't really help either.
On some videos they advise bind mwheeldown +duck ;wait duck etc., but that's basically cheating, right?

16/03/2018 09:24I'm not an expert at this but from what I can see you're also pressing W while trying to gs? Just like in longjumps you can't hold W while trying this.
You can practice the timing of the ducks by lowering the gravity a bit or maybe play on 100aa and try standup gs first, it's a lot easier since you have more time to correctly time your ducks.
Practice with some drop gs from high platforms first. After you get good at keeping 250+ speed for longer duration you can start practicing with standard gs. Also as commandeer said you could try 100aa but honestly don't expect to get good at 10aa that way. I was doing 300 speed for 10 sec+ while not being able to get more than 10 ducks over 250 speed on 10aa. It's 2 different worlds.
16/03/2018 18:24just play go_fastrun, it has a ~87.4 units higher block that boosts you off with speed, which helps alot for practice.
Thanks alot for the replies! I will try to practice with drops now. Can you give me some more advice based on my demos? Like, am I too slow with scrolling duck or strafing?
And no, I don't press W. I just press A and D very long, figured out this works better than pressing them too quick
just try first standing still and make duck duck duck duck you need the right timimg like bhop and than try from stand to gain speed your finger klick more the wheel than push it it must made with timing and than good strafes little circling or up down you must feel the speed thats all what i can say look some of my groundstrafe movies ,
ok i looked the demo now you much to slow with your strafes you need faster turn right and left !
