Hello!
Recently I found jb0luck.txt file on my old hard drive that I wrote between 2009 and 2011. Basically it is a deep dive into jumpbug technique and every detail that affects it. Most of existing information on this topic is incorrect, lacking, segmented, impractical or just very puzzling. Purpose of this article is to demystify it, organize all available and missing information in understandable practical way.

I don't know why I never released it publically before, but I admit I was slightly demotivated to speak about it openly due to overwhelming ignorant attitude of some individuals in the past. Instead I mostly shared all my knowledge in private with many people who bothered to ask and have a conversation directly, never intended to keep it a secret.

I don't have any expectations, simply sharing piece of my history. I'm aware that this is probably a lot less relevant nowadays, but a few people whom I shared it with recently - found it to be an interesting read, so I hope some of you may enjoy it too.

Now I know how jumpbugs work. Cool.
Always enjoy reading your posts spr1n they're very informative, you're clearly very knowledgable. Sometimes I find myself reading your posts on a subject I'm not really interested in but I just keep reading and keep reading. There's something special in the way you present information that just puts me in a trance. Thanks for the post, very interesting read.

Can you share what was it like when you beat wigbl0ck with 3 successful jb? What was the feeling when you landed that last one? Is anything interesting you can share with us?

Very interesting, this is a big part of the game engine explained and a great step forward for the KZ community, however, I wish you would have shared it back in the days.

Hmm, this explains why I could easily do jb in some places and why it felt impossible in other places. I had no idea that starting technique matters.

honestly I don't remember, probably relief. It was late 2009 and at that point I already had redrock record with 2 jbs and just recorded giantbeen[1337trees], so it wasn't something unthinkable or out of reach, just a next step up. Both wigbl0ck and redrock took me little longer to record then I expected. Redrock is just a long map and my first attempt making jumpbug in a wr demo, but both jumpbugs are easy, on wigbl0ck they are average-easy-hard in that order and failing last most of the times was quite disappointing, needless to say I had to sacrifice speed for stability. On the other hand my giantbean demos were surprisingly easy to make. First time Flibo and keltA showed me giantbean eb+jb (on invisible ground) shortcut I thought its impossible in a run, tried it as a tjrickjump and figured it is easier than it looks. In 2011 I was recording 2man "bug" trickjumps with NumB for a movie that never happened, and decided to give wigbl0ck another go since it was quite slow even for me. Took me literally 2 evenings, not a lot faster, but was an improvement.... I get bored pretty fast playing the same maps, so I was always bad at recording demos
