Well, supa had posted this in 2009, and my question is pretty much the same, what's better? standups or regular bhops?

The opinions in the post of Supa (this one https://xtreme-jumps.eu/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?158862.0) were very varied, but we must consider that it is 10 years ago.
Quickly, it seems easy to say that regular bhops are better, or allow you to achieve a faster run.

On the other hand, I wanted to know if anyone knows how to detect the number of standups that someone makes in a demo easily. I was interested in comparing these two:

You can't really compare Bhop and StandUp Bhop, beacause regular bhop is being used when u already gained enough speed from StandUp Bhop, and when u start losing speed again u get it back with StandUps, Bhops are used to gain more speed after StandUps and StandUps are used to gain more distance while jumping.

FAME once said how - he counted them in the demo tool or something.

As for sbj vs bj, bj is faster as long as you get 299 pres all the time.

I haven't checked but I see no reason to do BJ instead of SBJ on this map so I assume all of their jumps are SBJ.

Yes, i remember. I think he was talking about a run in volcanobhop, where someone missed a skip but did less standups...

GoldenNinja22/02/2019 19:45

U will be the fastest if u do BJs where SBJs aren't needed :D

Nubby-_-22/02/2019 20:19

BJ is faster than SBJ, when you do sbj you are ducking which means you will land a bit later on the ground than if you just bhop, there will be some "air time loss" and time to lose some speed, when you do a simple BJ there will be less speed loss, im talking about if you do it perfectly ofc. Also maybe the fastest way to bhop is to duckbhop, idk if this is true, its just my bro science :D

Nubby, with sbj you can go for 240, with duckbhop half of that... How is it faster :D

Nope bro, the fastest is BJ. You can only be good at it if you're good at masturbating

I think standup bhop's are one of the coolest thing in CS

When you're bhopping on plain ground you gotta do SBJ so in the end you'll end up doing less jumps, if you're bhopping blocks then try to do BJs if you do the same amount of jumps you would do with SBJs.

it was noxeR vs. shxKh, 37 more standups in noxeR's demo

I think it depends on the situation/map etc. Personally, I consider regular bhops to be faster, yet at times stand-ups save the day. Especially when you arejumping on blocks which are gaining height difference.(climbing)

So, I'd say that a perfect mix of the two would be the fastest.

Edit:
I'll use the topic to ask this;
what could be the reason that I never hit good pre on bhop? I either go 300+ or something too low...
I tried a lot a few techniques, starting with the 10 strafes stormzz style bhop, going through regular bhopping to those oldschool 1 strafe hops and yet my pre sucks. ^^

You can't control bhop pre at 100% @nobody.

I suppose... even tho guys like shNz seem to do it 95% of the time ^^ at the end of the day it seems that errthing is practice. And maybe a better mouse.

Well said. I think the best way is a good combination of regular bhops and stand-ups just to skip and gain speed.

Is there any cheat that could let you have any pre every single time you jump?
If so, could anyone with that cheat do couple runs on maps that have just plain ground, and compare the time difference between only 299 pre SBJs and BJs, and then also do it with lets say 280 pre constantly and experiment with different setups, but the strafes should be relativley the same.
This could be really interesting.
