Evening,

this is regarding the model discussion. I have tons of models, many of which have hard to understand names and there is no way to get an overview of what exists.

If I want to look at and sort models I have to doubleclick or load each model manually which is impractical when it comes to thousands of models.

So I was thinking that perhaps someone with the skills could actually code such a utility, perhaps integrating it into the OS, so one can view models from outside the viewer as thumbnails/miniatures or something. Or at least produce some pictures of each model and drop them with same name in the catalog.

Anyone? I'm happy (well, that's a definition I guess) to pay some for the trouble..

doesnt HLMV [half life model viewer] do that job?

you could make some kind of macro with autohotkey or even Mini Mouse Macro, to automatically open each model with HLMV and make screenshots and leave it run over night on it's own.

I guess this will be faster than waiting for someone to code a program that does what you want.

@KarLi You need to do it manually for each model then..

@FuZzy1 I was thinking about something like that, but besides not knowing how to step through all files like that there is another problem. Often the model doesn't show when opening it, and you have to look from another angle etc.

Well I guess you'll have to check the screenshots and manually redo the bad angle ones, but if they are a lot it will take some time.

Also I encountered, in the past, models that don't open in hlmv and those will break the macro...

Crafty? But..I already had that.
Didn't even know you could view models in there.
I'll look into it more, it will probably help a little at least.
Thanks a lot =)
