Why is trickjumping dead?
Question is simple,kz is definitely still not dead so how come noone these past years makes trickjump movies anymore?
For me trickjumping was the favorite part of kz,and back in the days when I was playing and when this site was most active everybody used to enjoy it...
It looks like newcomers these days(when I say newcomers I mean people with less then 5 years here) only think about getting wr's and nobody thinks about leaving his legacy with a kz movie with something that noone did before...
@Nannou I'm still waiting for you to make a trickjumping movie and show us something we haven't saw before, don't dissapoint me before I completely lost interest for this game :/
Maybe because the point of view changed. I'm talking about trickjumps in general, the scene got pushed to its limits and people hardly get entertained, unless you pull a 280dcj.
it's not dead but kinda dormant nowadays but I believe it is subject to change in near future, at least that's the plan :>

big player names + big moviemaker names = big movies. AND the fact that there are way fewer people actually interested in the scene. Almost all 'genres' have been explored, so viewers will not be so easily impressed anymore. The nail in the coffin is the low views count even a masterpiece would get nowadays. I think the only way to make something worthwhile would be something like (for e.g.) shNz starring in a 3D maps manipulation-style movie, similar but better than the ones we've seen 'lately'. Thats ALOT of work!
This is only my oppinion though.

I have to agree with that. However, there are many many new trickjumps available everywhere. For me personally, doing trickjumps is fun just in a world record run - it has to be a shortcut :)
Nowdays so many extremely hard maps that every part is a trickjump
indeed, if you land a jump you can basically make a movie lol
just wait for ARISE 2
I wouldn’t say it is completely dead but pretty close to it. I mean back in the golden days of trickjumping (2010-2013) there were more trickjumpers and demos than moviemakers. And the amount of moviemakers was ridicilously high also.
Nowadays if you wan’t to make a trickjumping movie it is a pain in the ass finding demos or people to record (for example with ARISE 2). Gladly Thunder managed to gather awesome demopack after all and I tried to help and give him as many good demos I got from people.
I for example would not even bother to start a multiplayer project because simply there is not just people interested in to give their effort for trickjumps like before. One reason could be that ”there are no new tj’s left on standard maps” which is not true actually.
The question is: what caused this? I was totally off the scene between 2013-2016 and when I got back to kz again I realized that the good old times are gone. None of the old fellas I used to do stuff with wasn’t around anymore. Did moviemakers dissapear and therefore trickjumping died or the opposite?
Seeing full length kz movies in 2020 is something that should not be overlooked. It is rare and every new movie these days might be the last.

I would agree with you in everything but, the trickjumping kinda died after all the standards that longjumpers exposed us to trickjumping, unless you pull of a sick distance (like nobody said) you didn't do a decent trickjump, and as far as I remember, theddy has both incredible jumps with or without distance, same for Lolz with bhop combos, heL^_x and so on.
I don’t really think it takes just extreme distance jumps to entertain people. People always enjoyed all kinds of trickjumps, the point was that it had to be new, creative and hard. The problem in my eyes is that the generation that records WR’s nowadays aren’t familiar and/or interested in trickjumping like previous era’s best were.
Btw, zythH and I are working on a project regarding this topic. Stay tuned! https://xtreme-jumps.eu/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?376607
The toxic attitude from certain members here is also part of the reason the trick jump and kz scene over all is dead
Might sound bad/rude, but these are the honest reasons tj died.
- requirements became too high, u pull off a 255lj, moviemakers would be "meh, that's so normal bro, every one can do that"
- viewers became too judgemental.. "meh, 255 lj what's the big deal in that"
- the time u invest and the outcome u get sometimes is far worse a ratio to think about.. The threshold reached where it stopped being fun and it started being like a headache
- lesser ppl around u used to hang around with
- oldies who loved to explore KZ for the heck of it are less around, new players are too skilled /robotic
- not being reactionary but old movies of ggs/speedzor/reAti/brian/lolz/sambb/fof/chrizzo/puppetz/shnz/k3g had something in them, maybe the too much of present day editing shifts the focus from the actual jumping to the residual songs/atmos & just shifts the attention to something which lesser important
It's not related to the topic, but also another thing, i dont know how many of u would feel it, maybe the older ppl would understand what I'm trying to say.. Its a very subjective thing.. For me style is more exciting and important than speed. I adore clean, smoother strafes. I loved seeing the absolute helluva smooth strafes of puppetZ/tarGet/StormZz & in present days recorders.... ShoCk/ g-lp/ Meel/ Toff. Very clean and aesthetic strafes, so it depends from person to person, what my requirement is might not tally with urs and viceversa & that's absolutely fine.
It's not the distance you jump what makes it aesthetic, it's the way of presentation that makes it look worthwhile

You got my appreciation prad, as always a wise person. Great comment.
It just died as a trend and it could probably take a couple of quality movies to inspire people back into it. And a well organized cooperation of XJ staff. The standard kz maps are exhausted to 95% tj-wise. The new kz maps are barely known, therefore not so interesting. But I'm sure there are still dozens of cool jumps laying undiscovered on some of the popular/regular kz maps, that's where it should be started off, again.
