PC Randomly Crashes
Hi guys. Im having some issues with my new pc
I got it like 2 months ago, with all new specs except GPU (but it was tested and all was perfect)
problem is: pc randomly crash. so it could crash just now, while im writing this post, or can do the crash after 3 days...doesnt matter if im playing cs 1.6 (like today, 2 crashes in 20 mins) or Call of Duty (ok in cod 0 crashes, but thats the biggest game on pc), or PUBG (it had some crashes, ofc random)
I guess worth mentioning is im using two monitors into the used-GPU: MSI r9 380 gaming... so it was also crashing when one screen had YT only, other was discord opened (so no big programs used)
Before, on my old pc i was also using the same 2 monitors but there was Windows 7, now its Windows 10, could be that a reason?

***im using word crash so it means: pc just freeze, black screen and its not auto-restarting, i must press a button on the case
I see one solution, for both of us, i'm not crashing but i'm playing on a stone, new PC fam :D
Sounds like hardware issues. Check temps. might be overheating.

Im thinking that the case could be a problem, cuz its really small but inside is pretty decent spec, so air cant flow how it should, i will try to open both ofcase sides, to see if anything changes
Edit: thanks Gene! Cpu temperature is 85-90 on startup (and in bios)
I checked there is thermal paste also fan for cpu, it is ryzen 5 1600...i must think faster for this fix

i will try to keep opened one side of pc case, so maybe better it will affect the 'random crash'...idk what else to do
Strange. You probably already did, but if you havent, try clearing CMOS. If you have any ASUS software like Aura or AI Suite delete them. Other than that maybe a clean windows install ? Idk
I dont have anything related with Asus on my pc
To be honest im hearing CMOS for the first time from your right now, can you elaborate what is that and how to do that? my mobo is: Asrock b450m pro4
About reinstalling the windows, i will keep that as a last option to do..Thanks Gene
30/04/2020 01:44(edited 30/04/2020 01:53)You clear CMOS by switching off your PC completely (either removing power cord or using switch on the PSU), AND removing battery (round shape) from motherboard for few minutes, then putting it back. That will clear CMOS but I doubt it will help with random PC crashes, worth a try though.
Can you say your PSU max. wattage?
I'm thinking IF you're using an old PSU with never components, it might not be enough.

Okay i will try with that reset, if i accomplish to find a battery on my motherboard :D

I fight similar problem. Mine was a BIOS issue. Had to update it manually.
JocA, can you check Windows Event Viewer for critical errors from the time when your PC crashes and see if you have anything logged? An error number would be helpful.
@Ggs, thanks. Me and friend did a update on the first day of PC, but today i saw there is the new one (like ~5 days difference from the one on my pc, but again it is update :D). I did updated it today, so we will see

how is that Error under the Critical, but Error has time in advance, or idk how to explain, like time from the future :D (and ye, always on freeze/crash there was same critical error

I had similar problem, mine was due to overclock tho, overclocked my old xeon lga771 cpu from 3.16 to 4.20ghz and i decided to stress test it using Intel Burn Test and AIDA64 stress test utility. Intel burn test also works with AMD cpus, so go ahead and try it. My pc was freezing and being unstable, restarts all the time, crashes. I went to bios and lowered to 4ghz, everything was finito after. My point is, try stress testing the CPU and GPU in AIDA64's built in utility and watche the temps in "sensors" tab. If your cpu throttles and freezes.. you have to make sure your pc airflow is not screwed. Make sure your cable management is good so there is enough air coming in and sucking out the case. If airflow is blocked that automatically makes your pc a fucking oven, which is most of the times the general reason for people's pc problems. Clean pc regularly, i'd say atleast once every 2 or 3 weeks. Maybe even more often if you feel like it. I liked cleaning my pc cuz it was beautiful, very well made, very customized, absolute budget beast. I miss my old pc :(
Thanks to everyone! After this thread i opened one side of the case (also updated BIOS, reduced RAM speed to default (without OC) and restarted CMOS like Gene suggested), and 0 crashes after it. I think i will need bigger case cuz this one is too small. Ty again!
