60Hz vs 100+hz
I've always played on a 60hz monitor with 1 ms, but I recently bought myself a 165hz monitor with 0.5ms. At first everything seemed to be way smoother and the screen itself a lot better, but when I tried to play some kz i noticed that both my strafes and timing on bhops where way off. Conclusion is that it's way easier to bhop (and possible strafe) on a 60hz monitor than a 100+ one? What are you guys using and do you think there's something to it or is it AMD FreeSync that's playing a part (or something else). Due to this reason, I'm still playing on my old 60hz monitor.
Happens because you are playing on 165hz while running at 100fps, set desktop resolution on 100hz or use -freq 100 launch option
oh wow, thanks for the tips. gonna test that
You need to use gsync/freesync, or you will have screen tearing. -freq 100 literally doesn't do anything. You're seeing 20-30 more frames per each bhop with this monitor, you will have to adapt your eyes. Shouldn't be hard..

-freq has been fixed last year and now works
-freq 100

Yes, but if his monitor has gsync/freesync (I assume nobody would buy a 165 hz monitor without that feature), it doesn't do anything, or at least it shouldn't. I know that fykseN has 2411P (TN without gsync/freesync) => -freq 100 = profit for him.
Btw. you are using displayport and not hdmi, right?
What is your new monitor?
using DP, Asus 27" LED VG278QR. Really appreciate the response guys <3
To be honest,I don't think there is any actual difference, except that you see literally every movement that you make, which causes some confusing moments. I never set my monitor at more than 100hz nowdays, but some time ago I used to,and im not sure if it really matters anyways. Give yourself the time to get used to the smoothness and try to match the in-game fps with the hz settings. I have acer eg220qpbipx and using 100hz gives me razor sharp response

In 1.6 kz, enabling GSYNC/freesync will always give you literally 100 hz, without tearing or overlapping frames. More hz monitor is useless and doesnt matter. Make sure that your actual ingame fps is stable, that could be the problem why movement feels inconsistent.
If i reduce the Hz on the Asus monitor it becomes way more laggy than using the samsung (old one) one which is 60Hz. I can get used the smoothness in general, but not when it comes to bhopping in 1.6.
Edit: -freq 100 seemed to do the trick, the gameplay is smoother, but it's not "slowmo like" like it is with 165 Hz. I really appreciate the help guys :)
Hi Speedz0r,
I've bought a new computer and my monitor is a ViewSonic 144hz with FreeSync and my settings to play KZ are:
- Set your monitor to exactly 100hz, not less, not more.
- Just in case, set the -freq 100 and -refresh 100 in which, one of them supposedly work for some monitors and the other, for others.
- I have my FreeSync turned ON, in the monitor itself.
CS console commands...
fps_max 99.5
fps_override 1
gl_vsync 1
If I do not vsync in 1, then I had a very notorious screen tearing a little below from the midscreen.
What do you guys think of this?
Hope it helps!
Freq 100 worked for him
Cant work if you have freesync on. You paid extra money for it so I suggest you use it.
It might have something to do with both monitors being connected at the same, but atm the new one (165hz) makes videos files play more "laggy" than the other one, so I just switched back. -freq 100 seemed to work tho for cs 1.6, however i did get some tearing "lines going from bottom to top" at times.
