Maps by mapper...

Absolutely agree. Cosy already has this and it’s something I suggested not long ago for here as well ..... sadly, it was met with silence.

I’ve been pushing for more visibility and appreciation for mappers in general, not just on individual map pages.

My idea was to have ranking pages for mappers the same way we have for players.

For example:A page that shows a ranked list of mappers by number of maps released.->Clicking a mapper’s name sends you to their profile with a list of their maps-> eventually, even clicking on the number of maps in the list could expand to show map names and links directly.

Right now, many map pages don’t even have proper links to the mapper profile .... just the name in plain text...that kind of stuff can and should be improved.

In my video “The Mapper King” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OINNOklB_0k , I showed how we have over 250+ mappers who contributed to this site over the years. Their work deserves recognition beyond a passing newspost buried on page 200.

I actually went through the entire archive of 200+ front page news posts and gathered mapping data into a timeline, it shows which maps were released when, by who, year by year(small asterisk, is missing info before 2005 but still works from 2005 onwards ). that list could easily be added as a clickable section under the mapper ranking page. It’s a great way to show trends and celebrate mapping activity throughout the site’s history.

It’s not just about stats .... it’s about giving mappers a lasting place in the community. When someone visits a mapper’s profile, they should see their contribution. When a mapper comes back after 10 years, they should still have a place ...... not forgotten under old posts.

it may seem like a small gesture, but acknowledging it matters. Recognition brings motivation. Incentives don’t always have to be material ..... sometimes, just knowing your work is valued by the community is enough.

We talk a lot about supporting players and records, but mapping is the foundation. No maps = no gameplay. Supporting mappers with visibility and appreciation supports the entire game.

So yes 100% agree with your post, hope it gets considered and pushed to be implemented !!

Not sure what you're referring to but from what I know, everything you've suggested was heard and appreciated. It just require time to work on everything.

I will add a way for specific users like you to link map to user accounts.

Making sure the mappers are correct is great start!!!

Just to clarify a bit: i had started compiling all this info while suggesting the idea to the other checkers and to you directly .... including mapper stats, maps per year, and so on. i also offered to help build something around it. But at the time, there was no real engagement or planning, so I went ahead and finished the files on my own(i also made my video ). Since no one followed up, I eventually had to set it aside.

Now you have the result of many hours of work I put in .... which I originally hoped would become something meaningful for the mappers in this community. I couldn’t personally make it happen, but as I said: it is what it is.

Please feel free to use the files however you want, if you find them useful.

Looking forward to seeing all maps once clicked on the mapper \o/
