Run CS 1.6 on Apple Silicon with Whisky

Download and Install Whisky
Go to Whisky’s official website and download the app for macOS. Install it normally.

Create a Windows 10 Bottle

• Open Whisky.

• Click Create Bottle and choose Windows 10 as the OS.

Run Steam in Whisky

• Inside your new Windows 10 bottle, click Run.

• Select steam.exe to launch Steam.

Configure Steam

• Right-click steam.exe in Whisky and select Config.

• In Arguments (Args), enter the following:

  
  

  -forcesteamupdate -forcepackagedownload -overridepackageurl http://web.archive.org/web/20250306194830if_/media.steampowered.com/client -exitsteam

Run Steam and Complete Update

• Launch Steam.

• Wait for the update to finish.

• After the update, open Config for Steam again.

• Set the following args:

  
  

  -noverifyfiles -nobootstrapupdate -skipinitialbootstrap -norepairfiles -overridepackageurl

Launch CS 1.6

• Steam should now run CS 1.6 legacy version.

• If it doesn’t launch, add a resolution argument like:

  -w 1920 -h 1080
  

Enjoy Smooth Gameplay

• On Apple Silicon (M4 Max in my case), you can get stable 99.5 FPS even on poorly optimized maps with many players.
