Something about WR's.
07/07/2007 02:31Hello, I just wrote a long post in the comments on the new demo release. If you go check it out, you probably have a opinion about this, and as I said in the post, I want to start a debat about this.
For the lazy people, I can quote myself (first part is a question for fuzzerd):
"fuzzerd. Can I ask you something? Why the hell did you submit this demo? Did you just want a so-called "World-record"? You stood still many times, and failed much at one room. And overall it was kind of slow, because of the "blind-jumping".
I don't get it! I would NEVER submit a demo where I was fooling around looking for next step several times and that stuff. Sorry for critizising you, it was cool that you made it all, anyway, it's a hard map.
I kind of wanna start a debat about this, but we can do that in the forums, I just talk here now.
There is many jumpers that submit "first-WR-demos" for new maps, that could be done much better. And in next release they are beaten by a pr0 jumper by like +1 minute. I am not gonna mention any nicks.
Is it cool to have a WR for like one week? oO It's not even necessarily WR, it's just the record that got submitted first."
So, go on with your opinions, and discuss until this gets closed :P

nobody else has submitted a demo yet, and probably for good reason. the map IS hard and long. as of now, it probably is the WR, so why not submit it as such? it's his decision, and that's all that matters.
ok I would like to say that this is a very hard map, which is the reason why I stop to look around, I've been fooled before by jumping blind and jumping the wrong way.
I think that the world records end up reflecting their popularity just as much as how fast it can be beaten, and it would seem that this map isn't all that popular.
and no I didn't know this map all that well, even though I spent 3 hours trying to get this record, probably because I rarely made it far.
I fell in the last room twice, probably because I was nervous, I looked at one jump and thought "surfing would be the easiest way" and then hit my head on a block that I forgot was there.
I only know of 1 other person to have nochecked this map, and as far as I Know this is the best time. I submitted a 12 minute time on this map to kz-usa.com and some people said "submit it to xj!!" and I refused because I knew it was a bad time. it also kinda annoys me when a map goes with out a record for a long time.
anyway thanks for your thoughts, maybe this will motivate me enough to try and improve this time in the near future.

hmm, i would like to say . . . can you do that map nocheck PuppetZ^ . . . better than what fuzzerd did?
It's the jumpers choice if they wanna send in their demo(s), so i really don't see the point of this thread :S You're being foolish yourself now.

Ok...lets all sit around and wait for these so called "pros" to pwn all these maps...Your leaving absolutely no room for competition...and competition is ALL that these demos are about...what does it matter if the run isn't perfect, or if he took time to actually analyze the map? If anything it proves that Fuzzerd is a competent and wise jumper who rose to the occasion when no one else did...and to go so far as to say "Did you just want a so-called "World-record"?" is beyond idiotic because fuzzerd has several world records (one of which is unbeatable) so if you would rather just sit around and wait for a perfect run...then wait all you want...but don't you dare criticize someone for trying...

07/07/2007 07:20why do you even care ?. Many demos has a mistake in it forexample dkz_darkruin by faker, IT's Far from beeing perfect! but still he sumbits it becouse noone can do it better, at least not yet.

Why flaming Fuzzerd to have the courage to be the first one to record this map? Of course this time will be improved a lot, and maby Fuzzerd will even do it who knows.

I think your point here is to make fuzzed look like a no.. but his not. Record and better demo if you can and without mistakes. Even Legends tarGet and others have littl mistakes.All demo improves by time and some releases and it will be perfect or almost.
hmm ye it's just extra work and "waste" of time for the xj demo-admin staff..so ye that suxx:P but rules are rules, u can't deny any1 from submit any demos, and maybe the players whom sends in these kinds of demos really tried hard to get it? althought i often don't download demos that i think will be improved the next demo release, so i suggest u do the same;)
I really don't see why you would pick on fuzz. Every jumper has gone through this and every jumper has had mistakes in their demos, no matter who they are. This is how we as a community improve and as time goes on and demos are exchanged, you become a better climber overall. Like veri said, demos are all about competition. I mean no one else has held a record for this map until now.. so why not submit? I'm sure fuzz is planning on improving his time. Others have probably tried and failed, i know i have.. so props to fuzzy for beating tropicclimbxp.

word to veri! :D :D Blah, I'm still lookin for my first WR, but im always afraid that it will get pwned by a pro...So why bother really. Why bother submitting a demo which i know will get pwned by a couple...30 seconds. It kinda takes all the fun out of recording

07/07/2007 14:03Ok, goodmorning, looks like I got flamed. :D Well, I don't suspect every demo to be the fastest, sexiest, perfect one that was ever submitted.
But I woulden't personally submit it because it would probably be beaten by another jumper in a short time. And if you are going for the WR, at least play the map through, so you know where to go. :o It is world record, right?
Listen, I know it's his decision, but I am just interested in knowing why he submitted, and I've kind of got my answer. I am probably just a guy that kind of want things (like demos, can be everything)to be almost perfect, before I show them to others.
fuzzerd, I am sorry for critizising you, as I said before, it was cool that you made it with half "blind-jumping" through. Respect for that.
EDIT: Oh, and btw, that "Can you do it better yourself?".. THAT is like 11 years old kids talk.
