Well I found a nice tutorial on how to make a nice house.

Here we go:

1. Start of by making the bottom of the house (very simple)

http://www.leveldesign.nu/images/guides/tak1.jpg

2. Then add 16units thick walls

http://www.leveldesign.nu/images/guides/tak2.jpg

3. Then make a big block ontop of the walls

http://www.leveldesign.nu/images/guides/tak3.jpg

4. Then use the Vertex Manipulation Tool to make a triangle

http://www.leveldesign.nu/images/guides/tak4.jpg

5. Now create a brush above the roof like on the picture

http://www.leveldesign.nu/images/guides/tak5.jpg

...and use the Vertex Manipulation Tool to make it follow the roof

7. Then u select ur brush and drag it over the house, let it be 16units outside the wall. Rotate the texture 45° on the side so the texture follow the roof. Then copy to the otherside, rotate and fit to the house.

8. Now its almost finished! But we need more details.

9. First add a chimney. Then make a door and two windows, u can also add wood on the corners and between the walls and roof. Add some grass under the house and build a stair.
Then make a small "roof" over the door and if u want u can add a sign (for example "Hotel" like in this tutorial)

For additional details u can make two barrels and a pile with hay with the trianglemethod. Then copy that pile, make it a little bigger (ctrl+m and select scale), and then put it under the stairs with the same texture as the grass.

Small things like this make alot to the looks of the house.

Here is a picture of the finished house:

Keep in mind that this isnt my tutorial, I only translated it from swedish.
It would be nice if an admin could check my spelling.

As great as it would be to see those fantastic images the harsh truth is, that the pictures have been removed from imageshack due to their "age". This thread is three years old, it would be a miracle if the links posted here would work properly. I don't think anyone has saved the pictures, so we'll never (?) see these.

I opened those pictures once back then. I still remember that the images resembled a house. The roof was in a 45 degree angle. Hope this helps.

PS. The images weren't hosted at imageshack
