Make sure you compile your map without the WAD files. Just use them to apply texture to brushes. I think it is written at the "Submit Maps" section of this site. You can also find a link for the Timer/Counter over there.

Please choose a reasonable topic for your threads. "mapping help" is barely reasonable. Since the forum is called "General Mapping Help" anybody knows that you want help if you start a new thread.
If you give the thread a normal name more people will bother reading it and eventually people can find it with google if they have a similar problem.

That's not written in my post. Please read it again.

That's one possible solution. Disadvantages are:

1. Your textures are easier to steal by other mappers.
2. You have to copy several files into the CS folder which makes the removal of you map more difficult. You don't see which WAD is used by which MAP. If you remove a WAD you never know which map isn't going to work anymore.
3. If the map is on a server and people don't provide a .RES (resource) file with the map you won't be able to play on the server, because it will display the "... WAD file not found ..." error instead of downloading it from the server automatically. If it is a custom/seldom WAD (not like vegas.wad for instance) you won't be able to play the map on that server at all.

Including WADs into you map (BSP) enables you to distribute your map using only one file (the .BSP file) unless you use custom sounds, sky textures, sprites or models.

you could always textract or bsptwomap an older version of your map if you lose which wad goes with which.
