How long for you it takes to compile a map for me its like half a day. Is it supposed to take that long, or im doing something wrong?

Sometimes my hammer after 2 or 3 hours waiting stucks (not responding) so i need some advise.

depends on how big your map is, and also whats in it :)

When hammer is compiling, it pretty much always tell you its not responding, but dont close it, cus it is working :P

i guess i need to be more patience :)

i guess half a day is a bit too much, the longest time for me was ~ 3.5 hour

it's either your map is too complex/big/badly made or your pc is just slow...

Fact or Fiction29/11/2007 18:43

with batch compiler ~10-40 min depends on map (mostly on lighting).

clair mapper29/11/2007 18:50

ah, see thats the difference. im really bad at getting good lighting. the longest its ever taken for a map to compile if its the only thing running for me... is 15 minutes.

try to compile it with an external compiler. sounds like your hammer is freezed during compile process

yep

or your map is bad mapped! :)

FragMcCracken mapper30/11/2007 15:58

and dont use customshadows...its normal setting time * 5. use the x2 compile gui, easy to use and u can see the current progress. use full vis and light extra only for the final compile. the difference between full and normal vis can be *3 or more at some big maps

I fixed the problem. Thanx for help!!
