hammer trouble

hammer just wont let me select items.

reinstalled it 100 times already and when i select the selection tool and click on a block (in the camera square) nothing happens, except the screen freezes for a sec. the bigger the map, the longer the screen stays freezed when i try to select something. I can select stuff from the grid, but that's totally useless cause its rarely the object i need. I cant retexture anything either. it seems like there is absolutely no contact between the mouse and the block.

it also crashes when i try to select models.

my settings are okay too


so wtf? is it my windows (XP) ? cause when i try to start the pc up, sometimes windows freezes when loading... 70% of times

if you had any idea what may be the cause, post it here plz, i really need help

hm... my pc is new, about 1-2 weeks old, everything seems to be in order, though this is not the only problem.. theer are a ton more...

like, i have 99 fps on all maps, but on dark maps when someone turns on a flashlight, it drops to 15. the gfx card is supposed to be "uber" ($285), as well as the other stuff (not so uber but probably pretty good)

probably gonna reinstall windows... just wanted to see what you guys think about it and hope reinstalling windows wont be invane, cause its a pain in the ass, last time it took me 7 hours

and actually, my pc freezes on startup only the first time. the second time always works, and sometimes (rarely) i manage to start it the 1st time.

im going to freak out if it turns out that the gfx card cant deal with hammer :rofl: but i think hammer would perform worse, not prevent me from selecting stuff... i dunno, hope reinstalling windows works... if not...
