Hey I just got a spontanous idea:

What about adding a section hosting maps that have been denied? Surley the maps will only be added if the mapper wants so and further there wont be taken world records. But since I saw SilverNinja's reply to his denied map I would really love to get the chance to judge denied maps myself to get a picture of minimal requirements and errors.

Just hosting, no further work. Would be awesome.

good idea imo :D

Hope to see it happen

Yeah, sounds pretty nice .. I also really get the urge to try some of the denied maps, after reading the feedback .. Then there could also be comments on that section, so people could eventually help the mappers improve their map, so it could get accepted, if they still wanted it to be.

In that case the checkmap crew will regroup all the XJ user (active user..) not only the admin map checker would give advices... That's quite a good idea

would be nice :)

would be cool fo sho but thats a lot of space cuz there r more denied maps than accepted ones :(

^^ and it would be too much chaos because people would be like "OmG iDk Y ThIs MAp iS DeNieD, iT pWNS!" and then id be like "NO"

Dalai mapper08/04/2008 20:39

what about adding a "denied"-tag :)

anny008/04/2008 22:49

to ez for the mappers i think...
They aren't gonna work hard on their maps 'cause there will have this denied tag...
Purpose of mappers was, is, and will always be having the kz tag on their maps [not custom or denied ....], but that's just an oldschool point of view

Lol, of course. What the hack is this gonna change about it? What mapper is proud of a deniad map? Tell me.

anny009/04/2008 10:41(edited 09/04/2008 10:42)

Lol not proud of course, but it'll be a "semi-release", denied is denied..

We had a thing like that when XJ started to release maps (after kzmaps went down)... It turned out that most maps got denied, so this section got bigger than the OFFICIALLY released maps (means taking more space, probably even more traffic).

That's why we stopped it.

However, it's up to the mappers: They can post the map with any custom tag or without tag at all, if they really want to hear PEOPLES opinions.

The mapteam is just a mix of different groups of people in the community (average jumpers, good jumpers, mappers, oldschool ppl) tryting to make a representative decisions ^^

Most likely PEOPLEs opinion will be the same anyway

I know, but why is there no form to fill in to make an application to become a member?

Well I see the point and have to agree.

Maybe there should be changes in the map-checking-progress. It's like politics. Reform followed by an other reform to shape out the ideal way of making this a democratic progress.

Maybe those maps that are up to decide on should just get hosted for the time they get testet and so you can patch your voting results up with the communitys result. Or maybe that "mip-(map in progress)-section" is only available to those who have already mapped an accepted map. THAT would be an idea I guess. What u think?

well, to me it sounds like democracy

raver mapper09/04/2008 20:46

Ye, voting by people who have a accepted map is a nice idea.
