Well, here's something about shadows atleast

But what i do is to put the shadow-layer on Overlay/Soft light and lower the opacity some. Also to use the gradient with black and transparent colour, choose the layermask and drag from the top to bottom.

Not really, creating and assembling everything.
Clouds, the gate, the horse, the shield, leathers, sun beams etc etc...
The harder and longer is creating lights,shadows and the color manipulation.

I wouldn't have posted it if I had just cut/pasted my head instead of the Knight one in 5mins lol
