Premiere: IT FEELS GOOD (outside) + TrickJumping Democall reminder
Hi Community!
In today's newspost we would like to premiere a new video, remind you about trickjumping democall and highlight few videos.
Let's get into it!
Premiere: IT FEELS GOOD (outside)
This edit has been made in October and stayed unreleased until now. While technically it's still a run edit, it's not the usual one and it focuses more on every single movement, step and jump of this 32 seconds run.
outside on cg_industry, because that's the run presented here, is a 00:00.05 improvement over the previous World Record by topoviygus. In the standard speed - you blink and you miss it - the run ends really quickly. Therefore in this video we are slowing things down - to let it breathe, to enjoy every little detail of the run and to contemplate the beauty of Counter-Strike 1.6 movement.
The minimalistic style was inspired by Industrial Development - iNsprate's and throttle's video that was an unique take on throttle's slide_dyd_object run. Released over 9 years ago, this movie was quite simple from the editing point of view - slowed down slide run, washed out of colors, with slightly flickering lights, basically static camera shots, all layered out over dark sounds of experimental, industrial, electronic music (power electronics/death industrial). It created an unique and thick atmosphere, something that was rarely seen in across KZ videos, opposed to more complex, more colorful and more dynamic edits of that era.
Since its release I was coming back to it from time to time and I knew that at one point I would love to make a follow-up inspired by it, in somewhat similar style. On the other hand, I kept rewatching outside's run, since it's very short with a lot of movement, so it seemed like a perfect match for a slowed down version. Once I heard the track 'Onanist' by Ethel Cain, it immediately felt like a perfect glue to the style and run mentioned above. On top of that, something I realized mid-editing or even after it was finished - map cg_industry couldn't be a better fit for the entire 'industrial theme' of the project. I guess it just confirmed that it was meant to be.
Sit down, put your headphones on but don't relax, since it might be a little unsettling.
Since iNsprate's edit was an inspiration for today's release in the first place, we managed to get few enigmatic words from him:
"...but there is a trope where player keystrokes until he reaches his final satisfaction and makes a WR. Although a carefully planned, perfectly executed wr feels like once in a lifetime moment, the ultimate satisfaction, it would appear to have been beaten in some finite time. And then the keystroking begins again. The keystroking resumes because the object was never the WR — it was the movement towards it. Satisfaction is only real at approach, before collapsing into a loop.
And then there's the meta when you slow down these moments to observe them up close and the whole replay-ability of the movie. It's not an emergent moment, but a conservation of one, a document of satisfaction. You guys are a bunch of onanists!"

Highlighted videos:
CiNdOR^ has recently dropped two run edits on his channel. While he himself noted that those are his first attemps at editing, I believe that the simple style of those edits fits oldschool runs that were chosen. We have 2006 kz_goldwood world record run by NiconeN and 2008 WR on sn_nanoblock[easy] by nutshot. Enjoy!
Cheers,
