Movie Competitions?

Wouldn't it be great to start movie competitions, where you can win something like admin, or an amount of cash?

Also if you should do it you need to have a special Xtreme-Jumps.eu intro or something, as advertisment, I think xj can get some more members with this..
And it's fun for the moviemakers I guess?

+ if it's possible to get video streams in here, I think not, there will be alot more people around I think

It's XJ's job to do anything kz related. I don't see why movie competitions would happen before we have kz tournaments first though.

nice idea, with the prizes, it's pretty hard. But as some entertainment, yes it would be ok.

monk will win the contest with his ubermoviemaking skillz :[ i've already seen him in the top5 moviemakers thread and with slowmo he got like 10x more time to edit, thats not fair at all... he maybe even uses hud_draw 0


generally i think thats a great idea which could bring alot more activity for a short period of time! althogh i would not participate in such a contest since competitive moviemaking is not rly what i'm looking for if i work on a project.
but i bet i'm the only one with this opinion, so dont worry & get the contest rollin

This idea is in my mind for months actually, it's planned don't worry, we just want to set up our current projects first ;)

About money, don't you remember XJ challenges?
The highest amount of money prize was 100$, won by brian with his kz_cellblock_h demo.
Not that bad in my opinion for a community without sponsor :)

That money was probably collected with the help of ads and/or donation? It would be hard to believe that someone spared 100$.
Although it would be very great to compete for money prize in the future :D

Fire gave like 150$ overall and TinTin 100$.
Only for the XJ challenges :)

I'd probably participate if I have the spare time to edit something and if I'm still into gaming moviemaking by the time such contest kicks off. Won't do it for the competition itself (kaffee), but for the sake of having a competition at all. There was something like a moviemaking contest here on XJ in the past and they got like 1-2 submissions. Tried the same with kz-pictures and we got only one. In other words, I'll join in to support the idea of having such competitions in the future. That, nonetheless, doesn't mean I won't put effort into it. XJ needs to get more competitive in order to find sponsors and a moviemaking, along with cup-like competitions on a regular basis is a good way to start.

Yeah, and what makes you think they want to give out any more money?

And if there is any money, as I tried to say, it should go into KZ tournaments, not movie tournaments.

thats not gonna happen imo. i don't think you know what editing a huge movie means...
imo... moviemaking competitions should have small clips (~1 min long) and a theme... like hidenseek.eu had a while back.
maybe add some pointers, like quality, jumps, atmosphere, music as starting points for a qualification in the contest (for starters) and then, as main events making movies about the current LJ world recs?!
each moviemaker gets points (ranging from 1-10) and the guy with most points gets all his LJ wr clips posted on the lj records page?!

or maybe a contest to create an animated logo (animated clip/intro thing?) for xtreme-jumps.eu?

we should definitely brainstorm more. this could help spirit the website more :P
