fact or fictions count jump record?
I check the count jump record and it says he did a 272 block, and 272 count jump, but when I watched his demo, and did so several times, it cleary says he did 274 units....

The block counts and not the stats. If he would jump (stats) 290 on a 240 units block it would be a 240 irrelevant what the stats say.
loled at this thread
stats don't matter, only the distance of block counts. imagine if you want to jump 250 block, you don't have to specifically jump 250, you can do more distance to jump over. that's what happened to fof and croucher, they jumped bit too far but they got whet they needed
ok that where your wrong, why is cr0ucher hj record 257 like in the demo, when the block is only 244 units?
lol, it's a high jump !! not longjump ...
ROOKIE DETECTED
How come it is barely one comment that tried to explain it for the new guy.

you can atleast try to help the rookie by explaining it.
Now here you go Habit.
The stats (like cr0ucher's 244 HJ with 257 stats) does not matter.
It does say the stats on the side, but it's what block it was done at that counts. About the stats being 274 on FoF's demo ingame and 272,6 on the site is because his jump was actually only 272,6 and not 274. Just a miscalculation in the plugin probably.
So if you do 256 with 257 stats, you'll still be listed as 256, and the stats displayed might be wrong.
If you're still confused, please, specify your answer.

Why are you people simply stating that the stats don't matter and the block does? Try to imagine it with an open mind. The block actually only tells you that you managed to jump a distance more than what the block is. Stats tell you how long you jumped. Which one do you think is more important?
Moreover, real life long jumpers (athletes, you know) don't jump on blocks. They jump on ground. They're basically just using LJ stats: the ruler next to the area where one lands.
A LJ block is just a good challenge. I think LJ stats are what LJ records should be based on. LJ blocks are just so 00's...
The stats are far away from accurate (well thats what i think). I jump like 245+ "everytime" on the XJ pub but when i try 240 block it takes me ages.
Flibo you're right an alomost everything exept the part where we should count the stats as number one, that's just wrong. It has always been block first and it will always be block first. If we should go after the stats then g33ks like NFS will do 256+ on a 250 block , omg is that WR then!?!?!?. Nah don't think so.
But you can also be ironic, which makes me fail big time :b

No, I wasn't. It's always been like that, it's true, but things sometimes need to change. Yeah, I'd be glad to see the biggest stats wherever it is done, even if it's a 240 block. Don't get me wrong though, blocks still have their fascination and it would be pretty nice to see 257 block as well.
It is only tradition, true. Longjumping used to be a tool for completing kz maps, and then you have to clear the distance. Flibo has a point since it has become more of an independent branch. You're likely never gonna be able to jump 256 in a map anyway so stats might aswell be used. Personally it wouldn't feel right but since im not into longjumping i really don't care.

One more time! New member.. Maybe a another fakeaccount..
For me it is..
Flibo compare it to real-life highjumpers instead of real-life longjumpers ;-)
I think that stats are boring and a big part of the skill in longjumping disappears. Such as timing the edge and jumping straight.
Let the real-life longjumpers jump on blocks for more fun when they fail
haha real-life wtf is that?
